Unwrapping a Frozen Red "M Performance Edition"
Does anyone have personal experience, or know anyone who has unwrapped a Red M3 "M Performance Edition" ??
The "story" is that these models are just normal gloss Japan Red that has had a matt (frozen) wrap put on it. Have been told that it is as easy as removing the wrap, and a quick detail, and you have a normal gloss finish. But this came from a salesman trying to sell a car, so he would say that wouldn't he ! I am told this only applies to RED ones, the White, Blue, Silver, Black, etc, are actually a true matt paint finish. Any informed comments appreciated. THANKS. |

What??? Are you saying the Matt paint is actually a wrap?
I don't think so??? I think its the actual paint, and not a clear matt wrap. Don't let them fool you.

Actually the "Frozen Red" series is actually just a Sakhir Orange with a matte coat on top instead of the "average" clear coat. It absorbs sunlight instead of reflecting it. As far as I remember. Might be wrong as usual though.

I personally own a '13 frozen red. From personal experience, I can assure you mine is not a wrap. I haven't done any studying on the website you posted. Just stating what I know.

The "M Performance Edition" in Frozen Japan Red was a UK only edition limited to 30 of Red, Blue, and White. But was the only one of the three colours that was a wrap.
Obviously our markets and versions are different. |
