Launch Control w/ DCT GTS Tune

Yesterday I went to the drag strip to try out a couple of new mods
I have a 2013 (E92) M3 with a BPM Stage 2 Tune, Primary Cat Delete,
ACM Exhaust Mod, Match Schnell Air filter and DCT GTS Tune with stock tires.

The GTS tune revs the car to 3500 RPM instead of 5500
which leads to almost no chirping of the tires.

My fastest time was a 12.685 @ 110.56. A little slow but a pretty decent
time compared to some other cars I saw run.

Heres a couple of other cars I saw
CTS V's CAI : 12.537 @ 112.32
ZL1 Camaro stock: 12.738 @ 110.74
Ford Taurus SHO stock : 14.048 @ 100.65
BMW 335i (e92) JB4 : 13.490 @ 102.24
BMW 335is (e93) jb4 : 14.043 @ 99.10
Dodge Charger R/T stock : 14.018 @ 99.88
WV GTi stock? : 13.948 101.34

I have yet to check the launch control, if it really did put it down at 3500 that will be awesome. 5500 was nothing short of wheel hop for me.

I took my car to the track w/ the BPM tune/DCT/ Euro MDM and my LC is lowered to 3500rpm also and it didnt work At ALL, just spun then wheel hoped, my cars stock except for Dinan intake, pulley kit and BPM tune, the only way i could make a decent run was w/Euro MDM on, left the hole like shit but went 12.74@111.67 i think DCT LC sucks so bad its completely Worthless for anything but burnouts and with any sticky tires it would probably brack something in the rear end.

3500 was a little too low for me.. I raised it up to 4K manually and the car shot off like a rocket. 3500 bogged slightly just like it did for you in the video.

maybe the track you went to didn't have the best of conditions. I didn't even chirp my tires because the track I go to (Englishtown) is very well kept. Did you lower your tire pressure at all? I lowered mine to 25 psi hot and got great results.

next time I go I'm going to try to rev it to 4k, the only question I have is when you engage launch Control, the car starts to move forward (barely) but is that enough to move the car far enough that you would start early? I say this because while your trying to change the rpm for the launch your most likely going to start early (I think)

It looked like you didn't even launch it at 3500?? Is there a reason why you didn't let the car rev a couple of seconds before launching?

I just saw the tree light up and by the time the revs got to 3500 I already let go of the shifter and the car just shot off lol. I don't usually let the car free Rev for more than 2-3 seconds because the car inches up while using launch control and I didn't want to stay early.

Yah i need to go back and try to run lower air pressure, i would like to buy some crappy, cheap 18" rear rims and put of some drag radial's
Also your right the track i go to do suck, but its the only one around.

Also even if your LC is coded to 3500rpm isn't there away to adjust it manually buy using to cruse control knob or something?

Stage shallow or "light". You get a foot of rollout before you redlight. Your time will actually be better by doing this (rolling forward slightly before launching).

That little flag is launch control. To activate launch control just turn off your traction control fully. Throw the shifter in manual mode and put the gear shift speed to 6. if you are on a flat surface, remove your foot from the brake and hold the gear shifter foward. Then you should see a checkered flag and all you have to do is give full throttle and let go of the shifter and off you go. I think the car dumps the clutch with launch control at whatever rpm you set it to.

Yours doesn't have the flag on launch control? If it doesn't it probably is not working...

Engaging launch control and launching:

1. Turn DSC off
2. Manual S6 mode (only available when DSC is off)
3. Hold shifter forward until checkered flag comes on
4. Keep shifter forward and put (and keep) the pedal to the floor
5. Adjust the RPM launch +/- 500 RPMs using the up/down on cruise stalk
6. Let go of the shifter to launch car
7. Keep foot to the floor; car will auto shift at max RPM

If the car isn't level, the checkered flag won't display, and launch control wont be functioning. Additionally, you must drive about 1/2 mile after launching the car for the feature to be available again.

Holy Shot! why has this checkered Flag thing been such a Top Secret? I never knew about it, but i thought something was fishy, Thanks Guys ive now struck Launch Control! Im going back to the sucky Drag Track!

A couple questions=
So even in Manual Mode it will Auto Shift at Max RPM in checkered flag mode?

And does everyone's car wheel hope on the street when using it?

And how do you know if raising the LC RPM 500RPM actually raised it?

Pretty good for basic mods. Have you ever tried bone stock?

my fastest time stock was a 12.98 at 108. Before I got the tune I actually ran a 12.6 flat @ 111 but the humidity that day was nothing compared to the one in the video. Every car running that day was at least .2-.4 seconds slower than what they usually run.

Im going back to the track today i think to try my New Found Checkered Flag mode! Only thing is its High of 60 degrees today so the track probably wont have great traction, but car should make good power.

i just want confirmation of the butt dynos that people are referring too!

because no matter what people will say, the car is faster with test pipes and a tune...what is the point of the dyno if the tune isn't tailored based on a dyno...

Were you just mashing the throttle from the get-go?
