I guess that requires a spouse that would be willing to drive an M3, but geeze, I mean, how much is that really asking? I'd keep it.

No to 435..... most likely they will have 440 or something after the intro.
Keep the M3 and get the M4 when it comes out.

Haven't been keeping up, but how much hp is the 440 rumored or expected to have? And wondering if it will make a difference when you throw one of the popular tunes on top, versus a 435 with a tune.

Keep your M3, put a blower on it and a Performance steering wheel, it will be like a new car, better then you ever dreamed of!! I honestly can't see myself switching car until the M4 is out and there's some performance mods available!

Yes, the insurance covers all kinds of stuff, including curb hits and pothole incidents. IMO, the insurance is worth it if your car is driven regularly by someone other than yourself.
EDIT: It occurred to me after I posted this (thx Peahi) at the insurance policy offered by dealers probably varies by region and by the dates that it's offered. These are big profit centers for the dealers, so there is no guarantee that they'll stick with the same company. You should look carefully at any policy you buy before assuming anything.

For what it's worth, BMW never quite hits a home run on a first model year, esp. on a new platform. Also, within 2 years there's usually some pretty meaningful changes that will usually make that first model year car a sucker's bet. Within 5 yrs you'll get an LCI.
I'd let it shake out a bit and hold for at least the 2nd model year of the M4 instead if you're intent on upgrading. Me personally, I'd wait until the post LCI version of any BMW, M or not. I always find the new features pretty desirable, and retrofitting to keep up is a real money pit. |

why are we comparing a car that doesn't exist yet? (yeah, I know there's a test car out there)
At this point, there are no reviews of the driving dynamics of the new F-M3/M4. So there's no comparisons here. If you don't like your E92, sell it, if you like it, keep it. If you're not sure, keep it until you read the reviews of the F-M3/M4 or until you can test drive it. Simple right? Finally, if it's the 435, no -35i cars has ever been close in terms of performance against an M car. Yeah sure, a E36 M3 is likely not as great as a E92 335, but the 435 is only 1 generation removed. I wouldn't trade a E46 M3 for a E92 335...not even close... |

Keep in mind that there's no guarantee that I purchased the same exact policy as you. I asked specifically, and was shown the clause in the warranty, about incidental damage to the wheel as a result of driver error. My policy mentions curb damage specifically.

So you were telling him the insurance covers curb hits, and now you're saying your insurance does, but maybe not his. Sorry man, not meaning to ride you. I just want to make sure that you don't generalize that the insurance covers curb rash. He is trying to learn and we want to make sure we pass on good info and not false generalizations. There is enough bad info around here to mislead people. I'm sure you didn't mean to mislead. It's all good. You must have the holy grail insurance that covers cosmetic damage..either that or it cost a ton for the luxury of covering cosmetic damage! LOL!

Here is a selling point for the new M. If I'm not mistaken the new M3/4 being 6 cylinders should yield better gas mileage over the current V8<---see what I did there? threw economy into the mix without taking away from performance...
