Well my friend as they say "a happy wife = a happy life"
If your wife really wants it then get it, cause youll never live it down especially if you have friends that have them. Oh yes I forgot! not getting the stroller can unfortunately serve as ammunition for her against you if you decide to spend a little on mods for your ride.

Baby seat is IN! Its much bigger than I had thought it would be but enough room for the wife to fit in the passenger seat.

Assuming most of us used the anchors in the car to secure the infant seat compared to doing it the seatbelt way?

Wow time flew by, baby boy is due in 2 weeks!

For a while i refused to put a car seat in my e90 and we would normaly take wife's t-reg, but she got me a Britex in red color that perfectly matches my melborne red and fits nicely They also have one of the highest safety ratings.

Great thread lots of good info here!

Just waiting on my son to turn 1 and both our kids will no longer need the rear facing stuff, whew!

I plan to throw the Recaro Pro Ride in the M3 for sure. We also have a Diono Radian folding unit which is really small and a Maxi Cosi which is a bit larger but has a cup holder. Those latter two I don't plan to use in the M3 - those are better fit for SUV's and larger cars.

Easily adjustable as the little one grows and very easy to use (strapping the baby-in, tightening the belts, snapping the seat in the car or on the stroller). We also had a base in each car (wife and mine).

We swithed to a Recaro when the little-one was about 15 months old. The Recaro has a very wide range from 20lb to 120lb and eventually converts to a booster seat. So here, only two seats are required before she can use the standard car seats .

wow very useful info

Congrats Jesal, which seat did you pick up? I think I'm going to borrow a seat for the first 6-12 months so I just buy one later.

I use the Graco Snugride 35 in my E90, but put it in the middle seat for the extra space in the front seats. It fits perfectly between the two front seats. It does not fit nearly as well in my wifes Mazda 3, as we need to move the front seats forward for it to fit in the middle.

Cant wait to get my son into a Recaro front facing seat to make him fit better in the car. Just another six months to go.

Congratulations and good luck! My kids are 8 and 4, and jeez am I glad I'm out of the woods on the infant seats...

For when the kids are older: (30lbs and up)

We have a collection of the OEM Quality, massively overbuilt Recaro "Start" Boosters. They were last produced in about 2003. They are very highly adjustable as your kids grow up.

Believe it or not, they are still available as new old stock/ brand new in box on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Recaro-Start...item27c160543a

Again: These are boosters that are good for kids 30-80 pounds.

They are super safe for the kids (like a Recaro HANS race seat)...
Fully modular/washable covers for spills, etc.
They look and function exceptionally well.
Features stereo mini-plug input for speakers built into head restraint

You'll be there before you know it.

See related post link below.

I will need something like this for when my kids are a bit older. Using the Recaro Pro Rides right now, great seats.

My only concern about "new old stock" is the warning we always get from seat manufacturers that they expire after ~6 years from manufacture date, due to the plastic becoming brittle. What are your thoughts?

Regarding these seats, I have no concern whatsoever.

These are not made of recycled plastic junk like all the kid seats available today. These are REAL RECARO. The real deal.

These Recaro Start units barely have any plastic. Aluminum frames, OEM grade seat suspension mesh, etc. To appreciate these, you really need to see one with the covers off.

They retailed for a fortune when new, so they are a STEAL at 129.00!

Ended up with the Graco Snugride, seemed to be the most popular. Ended up being bigger than I thought but will do the job. Just had to move the passenger seat up a bit more.

Thats funny, my wife has a Mazda3 as well. She doesnt drive much so we will see how well it works out. Might end up getting something bigger if need be.

One benefit of having the Recaro Pro-Ride if mounted behind passenger seat is you can still have the fold down seat access to work (just barely) squeezing by the child seat if you need to carry larger items too

I can't believe how time flies, 2 kids now and counting

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the recommendation for rear-facing is now TWO years...

I had the maxi cosi when she was small but it was tight when it was in reverse facing. I currently have pro sport as we as a pro ride. The non rear facing one fits better in the e90. Agree with others, you will have multiple seats and in our case multiple strollers.

Recaro has discontinued those seats and replaced them with the new versions, cheapest place I have found is amazon.

If you have not got the compact stroller yet, I would suggest this one we just got this year. We already had the bugaboo bee and bob jogging stroller. This is our third and she is not even two yet.

This is ideal for the M3 because I can still fold down the seats on the other side!

Prosport works like that but proride is just too tall for side seat install as it is very tough to get my daughter in when it was there. I had hard enough time when i moved it to the middle so I ended up getting a prosport for the M3 and put the proride in our Q5

^Are you saying mine is a Pro-Sport?

Does anyone know if Recaro makes one in black/yellow color scheme? I know my green one pictured above was a limited edition color. I'm very anal about color schemes in all of my cars so was thinking to get it custom upholstered for my next seat. We already own 3 baby seats but we are in the market for a 4th one for our other SUV (1st world problem of having too many cars and not wanting to move it around....haha)

Currently have the Recaro, Radian XLT and a Maxi Cosi (nice cupholder).

thanks

Hopefully there are baby seats with restraint harnesses used on jet fighters. Unless you want to see the baby sticking to the walls of the car while you take a sharp turn.

Because sometimes I forget I had groceries in the car and everything has spilled outta its bags when I get home. So hopefully you don't make that mistake with your baby .
