2011 DCT engine turned off by itself
So waiting in line for some In-n-out burgers in neutral with the ebrake up, my engine just shut off? No messages or weird lights came on (2011 DCT)
Turned it back on and i was in D1 revs jump up to 1k and drop below 500 almost stalling but it didnt. Car drove fine for the rest of the day and the next day. Any idea what this could be? Im sure the dealer wont be able to reproduce the problem if I take it in. I was about to install my test pipes + tune but this incident is making me not wanna mod the car anymore just in case they void my warranty. |

I truly hope DCT doesn't become a nightmare like SMG. It has proven to be very reliable so far... but M3's are falling out of warranty now and only time will tell. |

Sounds like bad gas, and you just aren't noticing it when the engine is has more throttle. Although I will say that every once in a while my engine stumbles then picks back up (maybe once a month?). I've never worried about it.
Doesn't sound like a specific DCT problem. Good luck! Cheers

And to think I'm now considering selling my 6MT for a DCT because of my bummed left knee.
Good luck dude. Keep us posted.

The problem isn't DCT, its the fact that this is an idiosyncratic new type of transmission that takes getting used to. I've got 50k miles and over 60 track days on my DCT. Original owner, zero problems. If you guys wanted a real auto, shoulda bought a merc.

What makes you think this is a DCT issue?

I had this same issue with my 2011. It would usually happen after driving the car on the highway and then sitting at a red light in normal traffic.
