Help With TV Tuner on E93 M3
Hi All,
I need some help with regards to the TV Tuner in my E93 M3. I'm picking up the car tomorrow from BMW Approved Used, and when checking over it, the TV Tuner was not working, so asked dealership to give it a once over before i pick it up. They have now come back to me saying its been escalated to there lead technician. The car was sold stating it had TV Tuner but didn't state whether it was freeview or not. My question is, if the car came with the TV tuner as standard would it have been freeview or analogue, my car is 2008 (58) with professional navigation, bluetooth etc. Im fully aware that if it was only an analogue signal then the TV would not work, but what puzzles me is, if thats the case then why have BMW not picked up on this and told me to purchase the additional freeview receiver? Also as they stated on the options list, TV Tuner, are they liable to sell me the car with the Tv working (in other words, chuck in the freeview tuner)? Many Thanks |

The TV tuner receives both analogue and digital signals as standard, so yes it will receive freeview.
The reception in mine was temperamental before my local transmitter turned off it's analogue broadcast so if the screen says "no signal" the car may just need moving to another spot. |

Great to hear, could you please provide some details as to what this procedure entails?
Does this mean I have to purchase an additional TV Tuner, does it play DVD's on the I-Drive screen. Also, will this work for a US spec car?

In car TV
The TV puts a huge strain on the battery, particularly if you do not do many miles. This and all the other power hungry gizmos on the car could mean you will need a new battery or a trickle charger (I've had to get both) pretty soon.
My car is similar to yours in age and spec and I rarely if ever use the TV. enjoy driving BW A |

yes you will need the additional TV Tuner, my car had that option fitted from factory but only had signal issues which was resolved by re-tuning the tuner, and it works fine. But can only watch it when stationary. It does not play DVD's on the i Drive screen. Trying to figure out how that one works, maybe somebody can shed some light on that one..... |
