Exhaust Leak with Eisenmann Sport & Connecting Pipes

Not sure if any of you has had this issue. The connecting pipe to the exhaust leaks under throttle on both sides. Granted it is very little and is probably not detrimental, but it bothered me. Try as I might to adjust in every possible orientation I could not stop the leak. So.....

1) Remove clamp
2) Weld
3) Touch up with high temp paint

No leaks and looks clean.

Nice job! Leaks are a good way to lose some serious torque!

i always wonder if my exhaust is leaking. how do you tell whether its leaking or not ? do you just put your hand there while the engine is running and feel for air?

Yes, you may have to have someone revv it as well. Mine leaked a little on cold idle but went away when the pipes warmed up. Then it came back stronger when it was revved.

High temp rtv will work great on that kinda stuff too... I had small leaks on my X-pipe to axle back. And fixed it not problem with hi temp rtv. Just a lil dab around the pipe.

I know that mine leaks as well but it is minor. Will this honestly cause the car to lose power? I think at this point in the exhaust system a minor leak will not cause much problems. I dynoed the car a few months ago on a dynojet and got 332whp and 248wtq SAE corrected, so I wonder if the low numbers could be attributed to this or my AFE filter...

You will see black on the outside of the pipe where it leaks. Mine had just a little escaping on one side connecting to Eisenmann, wasn't even worth my time to try and fix it. Very minor.

The whole process took 15 minutes and 25 bucks. Why should anyone live with a leak on a $2500 exhaust?

It sucks that for the M3 you can pay $2,800 for a muffler with exhaust tips, have to cut your stock exhaust pipes, clamp it to them, and then have an exhaust leak. You can buy an entire exhaust system from the headers back for a C6 corvette for that cost! It won't leak either!

I say this, and I just bought the Akrapovic exhaust system!

Andy, your point is accurate. These were not with the stock pipes though. These included the Eisenmann connecting pipes.

That is even worse! You paid even more for the connecting pipes that don't come with the expensive exhaust, and it leaks! I am dumbfounded. I am not sure how Eisenmann justifies the costs? It does not cost anywhere near that to make this exhaust. My guess is that they are making at least 200% profit on these, which is ridiculous.

Cuz of the exhaust! The AFE will make you gain 2-5hp.
