Are PS2s Directional?

I put my summer set back on the car but am confused as to which way they should be mounted.

They are asymetric as well as directional as well as staggered, so each goes only in one place on the car.

EDIT -- see corrections in posts below.

Wow, it's taking 3 replies for somebody to get this right?

They are not directional. Side with the big tread blocks goes to the outside (The sidewall that says OUTSIDE on it) otherwise they can go either way. Left side tires can be moved to the right side etc. There is no arrow to indicate direction of rotation.

If they were directional there would need to be a part number for left side and right side tires in each size. See Pzero system for an example. There is no such left/right differentiation amongst the PS2 sizes.

Thanks Rich! I looked all over for any indication of direction of rotation but didn't see any! Only for inside/outside for mounting on rims.

Also, for Contis DWS, I guess is also non-directional? For when I remount next winter.

Non directional..... large tread blocks go toward the inside just like was mentioned above!

Don't confuse things - large blocks towards OUTSIDE, as Richbot said.

I am still struggling with this, as a practical matter. What good does swapping left to right do when a certain tread pattern must be on the inside? Let's say I run a lot of negative camber and prematurely wear the insides. I can swap left to right, but still have tires with prematurely worn inside tread. To me, as a practical matter, it seems each tire will likely go only one place on the car in its lifetime.

The only tire issue that might be remedied by running the tires backwards is cupping. Might help the track guys.

max performance tires don't last too long on the street, so rotating left to right doesn't make that big of a difference on the street in terms of longevity.

however, the track is a different story. with the vast majority of tracks running clockwise, there are typically more right turns than left. therefore, the driver side tires will see a lot more wear than the passenger side.

If you've set up with lots of static negative camber and you're wearing out the insides of the tire, you either have too much toe or you aren't driving fast enough.

I apologize, my bad! How about we say that the "outside" marking on the sidewall should face out!?
