2MT Option Suspended Temporarily

I was just at my dealer, BMW issued a bulletin that the 2MT (19" Wheel Option) has been overbooked and will not be available for new "Stock" orders for March production for coupe and sedan. Some have been moved to Feb to be filled. I placed my order Jan 18 (with M-DCT), and im still at 047 - I hope this doesnt effect me. Im gonna be pissed.

Does this have to do with the 2MT option not showing on the BMW Owner's circle order tracking system?

ouch!! Dont blame me I ordered the 18's. BTW for anyone that cares BMW's price for the 19inch rims in the states will be as follows. This is if you decide to buy a set after you get your car, from the parts department.

Front 8.5x19 $720 each
Rear 9.5x19 $745 each

What do you mean by placing your order? Do you have a production number yet or did your dealer just take your specs and he is still waiting for allocation? Nevermind...if you are 047 than you don't have a production number...I placed my order 3 days ago and I'm 111. I assume I'll be stuck here for a few weeks.

OC wont tell you. You need to ask your SA they have access to it.

Thanks for the info. As far as your "order", 047 means that your info is in the system, but there is no allocation available for you yet, so it's not technically an order yet. So, the shortage may well affect you. When you get an available allocation (057) and it is accepted by BMW AG (111), your estimated production date at status 112 will be reflect any shortfall in parts available.

I was at 111 for 2 weeks, and 112 for 3 weeks before start of production. One week max. for production. Then, figure maybe 3 1/2 weeks for shipping, PDC & delivery to East Coast dealer?

$10 says both of our cars will be on the same ship. I get a funny feeling they will ship mine out on the 5th or 6th of feb and your car should be complete by then. Considering both our cars are coming to the west coast.

Call BMW's 800 number. They'll tell you the exact status of your order.

Tehy will tell you the status but not the status code number. Not that it matters.

WTF. How on earth could they not make enough wheels? That just seems like one of the basics.

They took my order weeks ago and its still at 047.. it sux because I ordered it early just to try to get into the limited allocation of the DCT for March-May.
Meanwhile there are people in other parts of the country who ordered later and got immediate allocation from their dealer. My dealer has ONE m3 at 150 so far (but thats a 6MT), and im the second one in line waiting for DCT

Some dealers want to take as many deposits and pre-orders from people as they can, which is fine, but they don't always let people know how long it would actually take you to get the car. I was at a dealer who was aggressively trying to get me to put down a deposit although they had 15+ person waiting list. He kept on telling me he could put my order into the system and that I would "most likely" get the car in March, and I kept on telling him I didn't see how that could possibly happen unless 13+ people dropped out or something. I moved on to another dealer...

Depends on the salesperson. I'm in line (#9) at the same dealer that Lucid mentioned. My salesperson has been up front about not being able to order until the April-June timeframe. Since I am looking for a M-DCT equipped car, it's OK by me.

You are 2nd for M-DCT...do you know where that fits into the entire waiting list? You might want to ask your CA.

Good to know. It does sound like the guy I spoke with was indeed misleading me since you were given a more realistic/later timeline despite the fact that you are #9 (I was being offered a spot much further down the list than #9). The dealership I put down my deposit at that same week was able to get my order in on Monday, which is pretty consistent with what they told me up front.

Could well be. I can't find any listing on the NYK Line site for a ship in February from Bremehaven to Port Hueneme, though.
