How long until your TPMS sensor died?
I am getting new wheels soon. I am wondering if I should use my old tpms sensors and tranfer them to my new wheels or if I should just buy a new set of tpms sensors.
My car is a 2008, so the sensors are a little over 4 years old. Is it time to change them or can I ride them for another 2 years?

If they aren't malfunctioning then I assume they should be good to go. The only reason I would suggest new sensors is when I bought new wheels I kept my oem set intact and bought a new set of tpms and bigger tires. Nice to have an emergency set around just in case.

I had one let go in approximately 6 months. I'm sure that is not normal. These things should last quite a while IMO.

My research has told me that TPMS sensors last around 7 years.

The sensors will be fine but change the rubber seals on the valve steps. That is where you will run into issues if they are aged and you transfer them a few times. Any BMW dealer or Tire Rack should have them readily available.
