Mystery Terminal - Help?

So I purchased an E90 M3 with 30k on the clock for a really great price - rub is it came with "some assembly required" The previous owner hydro locked the motor and it was out of the car when I purchased it. Long story short, the guys at bimmerworld hooked me up with replacement motor and re-install has been very straight forward despite not being able to find a complete service manual - thanks BMW!

So - there is one terminal that has me stumped (see attached picture). My car is just a base model - I'm hoping this was used the Idrive hookup, but that's just a guess. It is the terminal in the center of the picture on the black background.

Can anyone take a picture of theirs or enlighten me what connects here. It's driving me nuts!

Thanks

So it looks like this is called the B+ terminal... I've pulled it back apart to see if I can spot another positive lead that needs a home - no luck so far.

Help!

The terminal covered with the red cap is for jumping the battery. Is that what you're talking about, or something else in the pic?

I am actually looking for what wire connects to the threaded terminal to the right of the red cap. Any ideas?? Driving me nuts. Never do a swap on a car you didn't personally take apart yourself!

If that terminal under the cap is the battery jump terminal, I would guess the wire has to go back to the battery since it is the only connection coming out of that terminal and it has to hook up to the battery somehow to jump it.

There is a 4ga wire that hooks to that terminal from behind what is shown in the picture... I had thought the same thing so I started looking and found it.

I think it really goes to nothing on my car - looking at the threads there is no indication that a nut was ever on the post (no marks etc).

Can anyone who has a M3 pop the cover and take a peak - please??

This should give you peace of mind. There was a plastic cover in front that I had to pull off. I have a battery tender on so ignore that part of the picture.
