Says bulb is out, but is fine?
08 e90 m3, just started having this problem , message would come on the dash for left rear taillight out, check it out and everything is perfectly fine, bulb is not burnt or anything, goes on and off when i drive(the message) any thoughts?

Also, make sure that the connector is not loose. I had the same problem and the connector on the back of the housing was loose.

You have an aftermarket exhaust?
Mine started doing this after I installed mine. From what I'm told it is due to the vibrations creating a loose bulb. Check your connections and bulb clips. BMW actually has a TSB for this apparently... http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=672046

as in loose what do you mean? the bulb itself is tight in the socket

I mean the connector on the light assembly. mine was somewhat loose. I disconnected and connected back again. Started the car and the error went away. Hasn't happen ever since.

Mine did this too. A new bulb fixed the problem.
