Gears won't shift down under braking

Ladies and Gents wonder if you can shed some light on this for me.

When approaching a corner under heavy braking (usually in 4th) and dabbing the shift down paddle once and then twice to select 2nd (speed and revs inline obviously) the gear will stay in 4th. If I slow right down and and come off the braking the 2nd will suddenly select.

This is a new problem having had and driven the car for a few years.

When not under heavy braking the box works absolutely fine.

Really appreciate some help with this before giving it to BMW with an open cheque book!

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking street or track? It's common on the track when the DCT gets overheated.

Street but I don't drive it gently!

Will I know if DCT is getting too hot?

Sounds odd...Its not something that I've read of before - the only thing I can think of is that the box has been leaking transmission oil and is running a bit low?
Its going to be a trip to the dealer.

It happened with my DCT on the track a few times due to the overheatting. But i doubt you can do it on the street. There must be something going on that is not normal. What is your milage, have you changed DCT fluid?

I assume you have the same problem downshifting with the "gearstick" as with the paddles?
ie Its not that there is a poor function of the downshift paddle.

The car has done 35000 miles and not sure re DCT fluid I leave it to the boys at BMW to service it.
Haven't seen it on the list of completed items post maintenance.

That's a good question re paddle vs gear stick.

I will check that.

Although paddle is faultless the rest of the time.

Thanks
