Camaro Z/28 does the 'ring in 7:37

No Bowtie fan here but this is impressive.

Damn. The next gen. M3/M4 should at least be that fast if BMW expects anyone to give them the inflated asking price that they will demand for it.

keeping in mind those mustangs and camaros are not luxury cars. BMW M cars have some great luxury and Quality with very good performance.

its hard to beat cars that are made more for performance only.

What's so luxurious about an M3? Power windows? Adjustable steering wheel? Everything on an M3, even leather seats or split folding back seats is an option, and most of them are for extra $$$, except leather seats. You can theoretically get a stripped down bare bones M3 that is hardly any more luxurious than a Camaro. Besides, a C7 vette or 911 can be specced to be just as cushy and luxurious as an M3, with far better performance.

BTW, a Camaro is not made for performance only. Much like the M3, it's based on the heavy Zeta platform that was designed more for big roomy family cars and not track beasts.

i see what you mean.

its time you go for a test drive in a 2013-2014 GT500 or Zl1. i sat in a GT500, pure plastic even with fully loaded. on car reviews they say the GT500 has rental car interior, and shares to many parts with its V6 base

i came from mustang and camaros. NEVER going back.

I agree those cars have mediocre interiors. Nevertheless, the M3 interior isn't exactly rolls royce or bentley quality either. And I don't think having a bit more leather or a slightly nicer radio switch can justify BMW charging twice as much money as Chevy or Ford charge for a much faster Camaro or Mustang. And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the M division originally all about high performance fun to drive street legal race cars, and not bloated SUVs or cushy leather seats that massage your bum while you sip on your latte?

In this case, you are correct. The presence of a/c and a radio make the m3 more luxurious than the Z/28. Impressive stats anyway you slice it however.

Agreed. You can't compare the M3 with an american car in terms of built quality or material quality. It's not even on the same planet.

And the ring time is indeed impressive, I applaud chevy.

BTW, if you think the Camaro Z28 isn't made for performance only.. I think you should do your homework and actually go visit the Z28's website.

First thing you see is "SACRIFICE ALL IN THE NAME OF PERFORMANCE."

Seems like a car based on strictly performance.

Here's the URL if anyone is curious about the car: http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/art...urns-2014.html

You're correct in saying that a Camaro isn't made for performance only. You are incorrect if you're inferring that the Z/28 is just a regular old Camaro.

Former LS1 guy in here so I know what you are saying but they still came long ways. I am also never going back either.....mainly bec I have nothing else in common with the people who drive such cars

M3 shares the same interior (sans seats) with a base 32X as well....

I hope the M4 has a impressive time around the track and at a stop light.

well a base 328i is A LOT nicer than a base 20k V6 mustang .

also the M3 has better interior parts. i am confused why you say seats are the same. my M3 seats are on another level than my 328i seats.

i sat in a fully loaded 335i and my fully loaded M3 is for sure nicer.

M3 has the same interior parts as 335i except the trim (i.e: Carbon Leather)

Sorry, Sans means minus the seats..... If you have a M Sport 335 you get the steering wheel, shifter & etc as well.

Now, any BMW interior is much much nicer than base Mustang / Camaro for sure. Not to mention all the rattles American muscle will develop with in 5K miles of ownership.

Actually he said "sans seats" which means not including the seats. And how exactly is an M3 interior nicer than a 335i? It's the exact same thing, minus the steering wheel, seats, and shifter. But I think even these can be had on a 335i with the Msport package, but I'm not sure.

Ok i see, ya i didn't sit in a M sport. i can now see how a 335i is can be almost as nice as a M3.

You'd have a stronger point if it was actually twice as much, but by time you get to the Z/28 model, the cost differential is far smaller. A ZL1 is 55k base, and I suspect the Z/28 will not be that much less. It is a great time for whatever they'll charge, but the cost difference isn't quite that bad.

ho-lee shnikeys. In the rain for a full minute too. Good luck BMW, you're gonna need it.

I have no attachment to any particular car brand except the one that is the best. If the Camaros weren't so damned huge with terrible visibilty, I might be interested. The M3 is usually the best all around package to me, but GM is really on their game with the new Vette, ZL1, and Z/28. Even the Caddies and new Impala are starting to impress.
