HELP ASAP Please

When I purchased my car I was offered the opportunity to purchase the tire and wheel insurance protection offered by BMW as I was signing my contract. So spur of the moment I purchased it thinking what is an extra 1k. Well the other day my car was serviced to BMW for frequent air pressure loss in my back right tire. It turns out my tire had two screws in it and the DEALER refuses to replace it. They tell me that I purchased a third party protection plan from Autoknight and BMW did not offer one at the time (although I assembled and added it online at the time of purchase but w.e), so the tire insurance company was only patching it.

To start off they fraudulently sold me a tire and protection insurance under BMW but meanwhile NOW they claim it is through a 3rd party Autoknight. They are trying to just patch the tire b.c my tread is decently low and they do not want to replace it they rather patch it and have me buy a new tire from them. Thirdly, I have the documentation from BMW website regarding the protection plan stating that they can not plug or patch any damaged tires. I am at a loss for words and amazed at the customer service with my BMW dealer, has been an issue since day one it feels like. Wondering what step to take next.

As previously suggested, I would try calling BMW NA and Autoknight.

I have had similar issues like this and when I have been unsuccessful in resolving them I have asked my Attorney to try. I am always amazed at how much he can accomplish when I ask him to get involved. Just a thought....

Im sorry to hear about your situation man. Personally Iam very glad that I got the tire and wheel plan. I had a nail in my left rear, michellen pilot sport. It was basically self plugged as it had been there for about two weeks. Anyways I called up the dealer, went in they Looked at the tire and basically asked me, do you want it plugged or do you want a new tire. So I opted for a new tire. they ordered it, and I had my tire installed less then 36hours after I called. The price for the one single tire, was 573big ones. That tire alone was almost half of what I payed for the insurance plan. I think its totally worth it, but thats just me.

as you stated, BMW cannot patch tires anymore. Thus, they need to replace it with brand new ones. When I first bought my car with tire/rim insurance, within first 2 weeks I had 3 nails stuck. They replaced it every time with brand new tire.
At least in Hawaii, it is. But, I think my SA told me BMW cannot patch tires anymore so you should argue about it.

You should have the paper work you signed when the policy was purchased. Is it a BMW policy or an Autoknight? When we bought my wife's old X5 BMW was not offering this but the dealership offered a third-party policy which clearly had the name of the company on it and not BMW. I got the insurance for my M3 the paper work is very clearly a BMW policy and not a third-party policy. It also clearly states that tires will be replaced in case of puncture, not repaired/patched...

You should never patch a run flat tire. The issue has nothing to do with NA. If it's an aftermarket company you are at the mercy of how they will handle it. BMW is not responsible. They can only recommend the proper way to fix the car. You may have to come out of pocket. You can most likely purchase a BMW approved tire insurance now. Good luck.

I went around and around and around until the guy finally got the hint I wasn't buying it.
After a story like that...I'm glad.

If you have paperwork, have you read the fine print? What exactly does it say? Does it have a liquidated damges clause or some language as to what happens when one breaches the contract? Scan it if you get the chance, I'd be curious to take a look.

Im surprised, thats a fairly new dealership. I would think they would strive for good customer service off the bat. Did you try habberstad in huntington? the service guys are awesome over there. give Mike a call.

Sorry, but this is simply not true.

You should never attempt any repair of damage to the sidewall of a RFT, but small punctures in the main tread area is no different than patching a standard tire. RFT's are designed with additional sidewall strength that enable you to drive without air.

well this is not the first instance with them, they installed my meisterschaft gt2 catback and THREW OUT my OEM muffler, which I think is worth quite a bit. The owner just recently contacted me I expressed my concern, guess I will wait and see what happens. I just can not believe I am going through this as I bought two cars from them in a period of 2 months my M3 and a 335is.
