raked stance - high rear end

Almost put down the deposit today on a loaded 09 DCT that will be here around 11/20. Anyone bothered by how high the car sits in the rear? Owned two e46s and they were always the opposite. anyone lower the car so the back end actually looks a bit low? I can see the whole muffler from the rear standing and I am 6'5". I am sure there is a reason but it keeps bugging me and the 335 looks nothing like it

I don't like how high the ass is either. I am sure someone will come out with a more aggressive rear bumper which will make the car seem lower to the ground.

Is it actually forward rake or just an optical illusion. A lot of car look like they have extreme rake when it's really just the fenders are cut differently in the front and back. The muffler issue in the back is probably just a result of the aggressive looking rear bumper.

I think that's a lot of it, at least from the side, the styling cues obviously give it a forward rake. The part that bugs me is the amount of fender gap around the front tires vs. the gap around the rear wheels. A lot more around the front. Looks wierd to me.

I used to feel like the car looked higher at the back as well until I realised it was mostly just the lines of the car when viewed from the side. I don't care about my muffler showing from the back, I never get to see it!

The fenders are higher in the front than in the rear. Someone pointed this out to me a couple weeks ago and I looked at pictures of various models and it holds true.

It's just a look, there's nothing you can do about it except lower the car. The pinched rear is made to look like that to give the overall stance a more aggressive look.

The thing that gets me is not the stance or that you can see the exhaust from the back. (I also wouldn't screw with the springs, the car has been engineered and tested with the stock springs for a reason.)

It's that the muffler is beginning to rust a bit in the middle and it looks somewhat ugly.

Yea, the muffler looks very unsightly. I would just go with a rear diffuser from an AM company

Saying the car sits higher in the back is not actually true. The rear bumper just doesnt cover the exhaust all the way. That or the exhaust actually sits lower on this car. If you look at the fender gap there is actually less gap in the rear than in front. Again, this is sort of an illusion in which the the front fenders are actually cut larger than the rear. Same was true on the E36 M3. In reality the car is very well balanced as we all know and what you are saying is simply the design of the body shape.

just spray paint muffler matte black

I googled and came up with Vht heat-resistant products apparantely for use on mufflers, headers etc.....Yes spray painting a muffler on a $65k+ car sounds crazy but the way BMW left it, looks like a third-rate Midas muffler job with a rusty muffler......when I get my 09 that is the first thing I will do...matte black should take care of it r

You could just get an add on diffuser that would hide it.
