Visiting California in 4 wks... what to visit

With 2 children 12-15 6 days... we will land at LAX Los Angeles. We will stay in this region save a day or two at Las Vegas (to see Cirque du Soleil and maybe Red Rock Canyon), so forget San Francisco - too far.

- Disneyland
- Petersen Cars museum
- One aquarium or zoo
- Queen Mary
- San Diego Air & Space
- USS Midway Museum

I'd like to find more attractions for the children in the Las Vegas/Los Angeles/San Diego corridor.

Any suggestion?

You can check out Sea World, Legoland, and Wild Animal Park in San Diego.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, and Knotts Berry Farm are about 20-30 minutes outside of LA.

I would check out the wild animal park, its pretty neat. If your kids are into military aircraft, you can check out the small museum at MCAS Miramar in SD. And, if you're there at any time M-F, you're bound to see F/A-18's, CH-53's and CH-46's flying around.

If you like museums, then the Getty would be nice to visit. They have one in Malibu and in LA....both are very beautiful. If you normally live in an area that doesn't have beaches, then you should think about hitting up some of the beaches. With kids, even redondo pier could be fun.

I have 2 kids myself. Legoland is a waste of money. Seaworld is nice, but IMO not worth the money (but it doesn't hurt to go at least once). Long Beach aquarium is a joke. I am an annual pass holder at Disneyland. I may be biased, but I would say you should think about staying at the disney hotel and do 2 days, preferably weekdays. Jamming everything in one day (especially with lines) is not a fun experience. Yes, I am a disneyland dork..but only after the kids came along!

Good luck!

LA is just so vast that it would be easier to take a bus tour to catch all the sites.

i had a blast at Magic Mountain and Universal Studios when i was younger.

There's a place where you can go cherry picking, forgot where it was at though. probably not a good time anyways.

+1 on the Getty Center. I visit LA a good bit, and just recently got a chance to visit this great attraction. Very nice art galleries, and even if the kids arent into art, the views and architecture are amazing! Have a good trip!

Hell's Angels.

From Montreal, BTW.

Universal Studio is definitely added. San Diego Zoo too. Hollywood Blvd is also a must for an evening I guess. We are not much interested in art so I doubt that we will go to the Getty Center.

If you like wine and are going to the Queen Mary, my friends own a classy Wine Bar on Ocean Blvd right near where you go to get to the queen mary, called Taste! Stop in and tell them Dackz sent ya!

The aquarium is right there near them too. Ive spent the better part of a month out there in the past year just hanging out. Buddies house = 5 to 10 minutes walking distance to everything in LBC downtown.

Huntington Beach is really cool too.
