Exhaust Modification (inspired by Periokid/Subw00er)

I got exactly what I was looking for, a slightly louder and more aggressive tone with absolutely no drone. I can't even tell the exhaust is modified when on the highway. The first part of the video is stock. Then, around 1:25, the car goes up on the lift and the modded muffler is installed.

Thanks to Todd at Exhaust Works in Belmont for the welding work and the install and M3post member armorrig for the stock exhaust!

From what I can hear, it is slightly louder. Are you satisfied with the result of your project? This is definitely a good way to become a little bit more aggressive than stock without spending thousands just for the sound.

Definitely satisfied. It is actually significantly louder. However, it isn't louder to the point where anybody suspects its modified. It also doesn't drone at all, which is awesome!

Good that you like it man. I know it's hard to tell from the video how it really sounds. Heck, I can't even tell how my exhaust sounds from inside the car.

The only drawback is that the stock exhaust is pretty heavy at ~50 pounds. I might do a catted and resonated x-pipe in the future, but the sound level is pretty perfect as it is.

I heard a catted w/ additional resonatored xpipe on stock exhaust and that thing was on the LOUD side. Though I only heard it being revved while parked. I'm pretty sure it was equally as loud being driven.

My current setup is just that, OEM exhaust mod and I gutted the secondary cats on the OEM x-pipe... it is loud. I definately get some looks from people on the streets now. I am cooking up a video very soon.

Sounds so much better! Should've come from the factory sounding like this.

So you've replaced the perf pipes with straight pipes? Did they need to cut open both sides in order to weld in the pipes, or was the top opening sufficient?

Just the top opening was sufficient. See the video if you want to see the exhaust off the car.

I did go to a very experienced muffler shop (25+ years). The owner was very comfortable welding in blind/tight spaces.

Can you post a video of the sound? Is there drone with both sides replaced with straight pipes? And also, what did you end up doing with thefilling?

Very nice results.
So to clarify the modification did you:
1) Replace the completely perforated pipe with a solid pipe (welded in)
2) Leave the partially perforated pipe alone
3) Put the glass fiber insulation back in

Sounds great, not too loud but with a nice sound.
