e36 bumpstop question

I have an 08 e92 m3 and looking to get some Eibachs installed. I know most people recommend the e36 bumpstops with this setup....where can I buy these and how much are they? Also are they needed for both front and rear? Whats the drawback to not installing them?

Do you need any additional components? I just ordered a set. There are dust covers closely associated with them on the diagram...does on need to switch?

I recommend shaving the strut guides/mounts also. Contact MRF engineering. They have a bunch in stock.

the "bumpstop" help the damper from 'bottoming out' under extreme compression, the stock ones were supposedly too long for aftermarket, which is why people change them

The suspension travel is already limited on these cars. Lowering springs reduces travel further. Using shorter bump stops and cutting a little off the end of the bottom of the strut tower bearing bushings (the strut guide tubes) will restore some of the lost suspension travel from lowering springs.

Just for clarification, we're looking for the e36 M3 bumpstops (PN#31332225377), correct?

I ask because the previously posted part number (PN#31331124449) is for the non-M applications and doesn't look the same.

The e36 M3 bumpstop (31332225377) is the shorter version, as used in the Dinan spring kit. If you search there is another thread with a picture of the Dinan kit with that part number on the bumpstop. On pelicanparts.com the non-M bumpstop looks much taller.

http://www.amazon.com/BMW-Additional...ds=31332225377

so a pair of these with the eibachs and we're good to go? Im ordering a set at the end of the week and need these obviously. As for shaving ANYTHING else on the front strut, is that for something OTHER than just up and down travel? If so, i would CERTAINLY call that overkill as these are about .5-.8" inches shorter than OEM bumpstops if not more, and the eibachs lower .8" up front.... Anyways, just saying, no need to buy extra/pay for extra labor costs when it seems entirely unnecessary. We are not talking H&R race here... /rant

I installed shorted bump stops on my h&R springs, I was told on setups close to stock like B&G don't necessary need them, Even thought they were fine without them(h&r) I still did it

Well, Eibach is the SHORTEST drop to my knowledge at .8" up front. So is it worse or better to run them. The e36 m3 bump stop is about .3" shorter so this seems like the best of both worlds. Using Eibachs intended engineering while providing a LITTLE more room for travel. IDK, i just can't decide whether the car should be riding on OEM bump stops or e36 when Eibach seems to insist you keep them stock...

aware: this is just nitpicking at this point but worth a thought....

Any spring that lowers the car will reduce the OEM travel, it's a good idea to retain the OEM travel...the M division designed a really sweet suspension.

so you're saying. opt for the extra .3" of travel given by the e36m bumpstop VS. OEM e9x bumpstop... just to clarify
