Allocations

I've read a few posts where people have said that their dealer told them they already know their allocations and that they have an expected delivery month. I emailed my SA about this and this is the response I got:

Quote:
no dealers have recieved any
allocation yet - that will not happen until November/December 2007

As soon as BMW lets us put the confirmed orders in a status called "order
bank" I will put all of theme in to show BMW how many we have pre-sold wich
could impact how fast we can get them...

Soooo...whats going on?

The dealer I'm getting mine from is right beside the Greenville, SC plant, so I'd imagine they're pretty big.

When do you think we will get our pricing?

Im thinking (hoping) September, when production starts in Europe.

"My dealership called me today for an update. Their first allocation will be 6 cars with production beginning in December 2007. This will put delivery mid february to early march 08. No DCT for this first allotment."

Obviously, this is what my dealership told me. I'm sure it has something to do with number of sales over the past years. I assure you the allocations will be more than 1 or 2 at this dealership and most likely will be 6 as I was told.

I have an estimated allocation date of April through military sales and I think they are simply basing on that on when they expect to be able to order the car. I think everything is just an estimate right now.

Only a guess

I'd be willing to bet they do not have their allocation. Guessing what you will get as your first allocation vs. having one from BMW in Germany is a huge difference. If they really had anything more than their own personal guess they would also be allowing orders to be placed which obviously isn't the case.

We don't have firm prices, allocations, orders nor even build nor delivery dates for the US.

agree here with you swamp. but would not be surprised if BMW's has given their most profilic US dealerships the thumbs up on a very small number of allocations without divulging to them the full extent of their allocation. so in a hypothetical scenario, "top dog bmw" might expect an unconfirmed allocation between 6 and 9 spots based off of their prior sales figures, communications from bmw have confirmed 1 spot for sure. this would explain the conflicting posts we've seen regarding dealer statements pertaining to allocation.

who has said that dealers have been told allocation or customers being given delivery dates etc?

BMW have asked dealers in London to advise of all confirmed orders so that they can issue allocation. These are just numbers at the moment to see what demand is like. I have 2 orders both of which are on SA3 which is the ordering system.

You guys across the pond are getting the M3 alot earlier than us here in the States, so i guess thats why your dealers will know how many Ms they will be getting. For us here in the States we will just have to wait.
