S5 test drive

test drove the S5 today, and have decided 100% on buying the M3!!

the S5 is a great looking car inside and out. very comfortable with a gorgeous interior.

but the decision was made right after the first hard turn I took with it.

it was rolling all over the place, unlike the E92 I had drove earlier.

M3 FTW!!!!!

Exactly. Good looking car inside and out, BUT "S" stands for soft on the S5. I found it to be way too soft. Only the RS's from Audi can hang with the Ms. I also didn't like how soft the clutch was. I think it should considerably stiffer with a V8 like that.

Agree. But as a driver's car, M3 FTW.

S5 does look good, but am I the only one who when the first S5 drove buy it reminded you a lot of the e92 335i? Its like they saw the BMW and copied it or something. I know they didn't because they were developed at the same time or close, but when I first saw it both in person and in pics it looked very, very similar to the 335i minus the "kink".

I drove one too and was VERY impressed. but it would not have pulled me away from the m3. it would however be great competition and maybe surpass a e46 M3.

It's too expensive for its own good (MSRP and "market demand"). It should be competition for the 335i, not even try the M3. Lets see what audi does with the RS5.

S5 is beautiful, but the more i see them on the road the more i get tired of the design...M3, I wasn't impress with the design at first, but the more i see it, the more i'm loving the design....

IMHO, it should be compared with the E92 335 not the M3.

+10000000000

In fact in my mind, I never compare it to the M3, I sometimes catch myself getting confused why people compare the two because I forget that they are in the same "class".

i wonder if that is praise to the e46 m3 or a diss to the S5. how many years later and it is being compared to a car that much older?

I find the S5 to more of a grand touring car, like a 6-series. A buddy of mine just bought one over a 650i he test drove. He found it to be a much better car at more than $20k savings over the 650i. He absolutely loves it. It is definetely a damn good looking car, inside and out. Sounds really good too.
