some people just have tons of money and others dont. age and job will play a big part. dont feel bad or cheap, just how shit falls.

I can't do the purse thing anymore. She (my wife) doesn't even know where to put them anymore at this point. I am flat out of ideas for what to get her this year. I am deployed anyway, so I won't be home... we aren't going to do "Christmas" until I come back January 3rd. Plus, she's German, and last year when I bought her Mein Kampf off of ebay, she didn't like it very much... and neither did her parents.... She has given me no ideas, and the only discussions we have are what I will NOT be getting for Christmas... (basically tattoos and car parts)

same here! my wife has purses falling out of the closet... and she too refuses to buy me car parts. she wont even get me a gopro because she knows i will use it for my car lol! i was like "we can use it for lots of things like shooting, snowboarding, the lake etc etc.... but the fact that she knows it will spend a good amount for car footage gets it kicked of my "to get for xmas list"

How do you guys feel about making things? My wife is obsessed with Tinkerbell, and the last time I went to Disney (she couldn't make it) I did that sketch class at Animation Studios a couple times. I didn't get a chance to do Tinkerbell, but the ones I did, she was blown away by. So I thought, you know what, I'll do it on my own. I just did my first copy, on normal printer paper, and am about to start my new one on actual sketch paper. I bought a frame for when I am happy with one. I left the sketch lines on purpose, because it makes it look more unique. It's supposed to be from the heart right?

So here is the finished piece.. I am happy with it.. Only took one rough draft and then this one.. not bad. Of course I will get other stuff, perfume and what not, but I think this will end up being her favorite gift. Enjoy!

^ Making things for girls is always good. They like when you make things and put some thought into it (the ones worth keeping think like this, at least). I think the favorite gift I gave my girlfriend was a cheap scrapbook I made chronicling our first year together. This is becoming a yearly tradition (though it's only been two years). Also, practical things are always good, even if they're cheap. Something that she can use daily, or as often as possible, and every time she uses it she remembers who gave it to her. Or something along those lines.
