2012 Nav Map Update

I have a 2011.75 M3. Do I need this update? What exactly does it add besides updated map data?

Did the update this morning, took about 40 mins and worked flawlessly. I can vouch for sergej... he got back to me with a FSC code within 30 mins.

Car is about 85% done the upload. Been running for about 25 minutes. Pretty quick actually. I have an 09 that the dealer updated to 2011.5 a couple of years ago, under warranty. It will be interesting to see if I notice an improvement.

Any one have a FSC code for 2013 or 2012 or 2011 America Maps they would like to share? My CIC has no vin and I am trying to load a map into it.

Did you retro your car with CIC? I'd ask the installer.

Every year they come out with a map update. It updates nothing but your map data. No other software updates are provided with it. It's I would do it maybe every 2 years. Not too expensive. You can buy the official media from getbmwparts for like 40 bucks plus get the code from the guy here for like 50-60 bucks. Easy. The car does not need to be on whilst updating. You can safely shut off the car and resume the update later.

FSC codes are vin specific. No one's code will work on your car. It's best you contact sergej (i think that's the name). But if you have a retrofitted CIC you need the vin of the actually CIC and not your vehicles.

[edit] whoa if your cic has no vin it has to be a new one. YOu can load your specific vin onto it. I assume you're trying to get the navigation function working and not just loading the maps. In that case, you need the FSC code for navigation or a bypass unit as well as the FSC for the maps.

I have a 2009 Jan 09 build date. Software has not been updated, I have a Dinan SW flash on it.

I've obtained a USB stick with the 2013 update on it, but it will not load from the glove box. Tischer confirmed that prior to Sep 09 sw, I would need to go to the dealer.

Options are sw update at the dealer, out of warranty, then USB+Sergio FSC code route, or purchase map update at dealer ($$$).

Is there any way to take the files I have on USB and create DVDs to load or do I need to download them?

see if your dealer is willing to update the CIC firmware out of good will when u bring it in for an oil change or something.

Crap. I'm coming to the conclusion I will only be able to update to 2012 maps.

1. My car won't accept USB updates because it is pre 09/09 build.
2. The '13 update is one big package about 22M, which won't fit on a DVD-DL (Max 8 Gb)
3. Correct?

A. Anyone still on this thread have a set of 2012 update disks they would be willing to send me for postage?

Thanks to this thread, I was finally able to update to the 2012 Maps today.

Especially appreciate the help from member 'Dracon' who provided the FSC code for a fair price in a few hours. Great service!
