I thought being #7 on the list at a large dealership...
would allow me to order the car in Feb/March, but apparently the allocation of M3s, even to big dealerships, is pretty low. Apparently I won't be able to order my car until May/June, which is one/two months after my S5 gets here, if I decide to keep it and forgo my deposit on the M3. Anyone else surprised at the low allocation numbers for the M3? Oh, and if anyone wants to donate their #3 place on the list of a dealer, ready for ordering now, send me a PM, lol.

Something doesn't seem right. I'm #8 at a large dealership and my order is going in sometime in the next week or so. This dealership has already submitted 6 orders that were accepted by BMW.

As far as other factors go I think the number of M certified techs and whether the dealer is also a Dinan dealer are also factors although I can't prove it.

Since Feb 1st I've had 3 calls from various dealers in the southeast that had sedan slots open up for Feb/March production. Probably every day the market tanks, they lose another waitlister.

I came to my senses and switched from the e90 to the e92. I went from #2 to #34.

I don't necessarily believe the stock market has anything to do with the sedan not being as popular; I think it's just the nature of the customer who buys an M. For example, if a sedan was the only M3 available I wouldn't even consider it. Seems to me like the sedan is good for volume, but the true essence of an M3 lies in the coupe.
Not trying to rag on the sedan, it's an awesome car. It's just my 2 cents on what I feel an M3 is. |
