Reason to have BMW Tire and Wheel Warranty

I know there has been threads/polls on if you should buy it or not. Well, I'm glad I did. I had a flat last Monday and had BMW replace the tire. 105 miles later, I get another flat, SAME freakin tire. Now, the claims dept cops an attitude and wants to send an inspector out which can take upto 48 hours. WTF, the nail is still in the tire and they don't believe my SA.

I called them back and asked them to reconsider. Now I'm waiting in the lounge for an answer while I'm typing this.

Anyone else have issues with BMW Claimes dept?

I guess I could have just gone to a tire repair shop and patched it up, but I didn't think claims would make such a big deal out of this.

OK, I'm done venting now. I just hope they approve it so I don't have to pay for a rental car and lose another day on this.

I hope everyone out there is having a better day than I am.

I have the warranty, and it has absolutely paid off. I have had three tires ruined by nails, and all were replaced without issue. I too had the same one replaced twice (within a month), and never an issue with the claims dept.

I have the warranty and have never had to use it in ~2 years of ownership. I still don't regret getting it though, it's nice to have that peace of mind (as you did the first time).

Isn't the tire and wheel insurance trough a third party insurance company? If you purchased the insurance at the dealer the SA will call the insurance company prior to the repair.

After taking 10 pictures of the VIN, my license plate, car, tread amount with tire gauge, soap to show it bubbles from 3 different angles, claims dept approved it "this time".

Dealership charged me almost $600 for the tires each time. Made my money back already in just 8 months Sooooo glad I bought the warranty. Now, I'll probably never have another issue for the next 2 1/4 years. NOT!!!

This depends on the dealership. Mine is Through BMW but I've heard others bought 3rd party, which was the only option.

Hope they come through. I purchased it as well. I used it once to repair curb rash. Hope I don't have to use it again, but it's a bargain for 5 years of protection. +1 on the peace of mind!

Did you have BMW Or 3rd party? I have BMW and they wouldn't cover my wheel with the flat (nasty curb rash). They said, if it holds air and only cosmetic, warranty will not cover it.

I got the insurance through BMW. *Another member had to pay out of pocket but my service dealer put it through and did a great job. I can't tell if I ever scraped the wheel.*

You guys are all running stock wheels and stock tires? I haven't done that since 1991 so its really a non issue as most tires aren't that much to replace and when you go through 50+ sets of wheels tires become as much to me as what I spend on soda a month. So absolutely not worth it for me if stock on stock.

Most tire places will patch for free while you wait.

What kind of soda are you drinking? Because my "stock" rear tires are $436 each.

100% get it. It's the best warranty I've ever had.

I got a nail in the sidewall once, and they replaced the tire with a brand new one.

And about two years ago I hit a pretty good pothole going around a turn which put a slight kink in the wheel. They covered replacing the wheel with a brand new OEM one.

I will have it on every performance car I ever own.

Can you get the warranty after you've bought the car? (or leased in my case)

I refused it initially, as per the dealer's suggestion. Did he have an incentive to *not* sell me on it?

I don't think you can after the sale. You can ask the finance dept at the dealership that you bought the car from.
