Autoclub Speedway Roval

With BMW CCA LA. Was a good day but I was probably in the wrong group. Tried to brake earlier than normal and save the brakes but I think I messed that one up. Didn't shift down to 2nd to save the car as well.

Here's the video:

Was there today with speed ventures. 1st time on that track. Lots of fun and I feel you on the stock brakes! Not up to the long braking

Good video

Did the speedventures event on Saturday and had a blast on this track. Looking forward to go back again soon to this one.

It was actually Blue group (only my second time at a track event) However after seeing my times and my buddies times (white M3 in front of me) going to go up a group and hopefully have less bunched up traffic. There were a few "unsafe" drivers out there.

Why are there cones all over the entrance to T1...?

^It's a CCA thing...

Sometimes, I think they re-configure the course to, after T1, or at around T1, to come into the infield.

Cones are so ppl dont ride up too high. Also in the second chicane there were cones where speedventures didnt.

Bummer. Screws up the proper line for certain cars... and makes it harder to go two wide in the bank

(OC3 passing me )

We'd be running over the cones

Yeah, they stuck a gate of cones on the entrance to turn one last time I went with the CCA to AAA. I was pretty happy when my instructor, who was showing me the line in my car, hit one of the cones at 100 mph+. Obviously it wasn't quite wide enough. There were some nice marks from that.

They have cones in weird places there sometimes. They had the cones all screwed up on the turn that leads onto the straight also. It wasn't nearly wide enough and didn't make for a very constant radius

I hit a cone at Buttonwillow that was knocked into track before... cracked front bumper lip... and that was at far less than 100+ mph. I'd be pissed if that happened at that speed and especially if I wasn't driving!

Fucking stupid to put cones out there like that. If someone needs cones to know not to run into the banking wall then...

But, if there indeed are a couple of ways, I think there's a 3rd way...

That's not the point of the cones.
They basically want you to enter the turn down low so you don't get too much G's build up going into 1/2. They say it's to prevent oil starvation since some of the race cars had drops in oil pressure when they were out there without the cones. That gate is much better than the chicane they use to put there to slow you down AND get you down low at the end of the straight.

In our big cars, a single apex is faster. The double is likely faster for smaller/lighter cars. It's like 2 at Laguna Seca. You're faster in a single apex in our cars than a double apex.
I'd just be afraid to do a single apex turn and someone behind you is doing a double apex. It could get messy.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Still a retarded reason, but I'll agree that it is better than what you describe. If a race car has issues with drops in oil pressure then they should prepare their cars properly or take a different line of their own volition.

Agreed... I've tried a couple different things and have seen a lot of different cars try different things there. The small cars double apex it and don't dive nearly as far into the turn. I am faster diving deep into the turn and single apexing it.

I prefer the idea of the double apex but an experienced driver with gt3 cup car came out with me and insisted I do a single apex
