How is Irvine BMW for service?
I bought my E90 M3 from Irvine BMW and will need my 1,200 mile service soon. How is Irvine BMW's service department? Do they know what they are doing for the 1,200 mile service on the M3? Are they careful about not scratching cars, etc.?

Generally, they have a terrible reputation.
I'm not saying they've never taken care of people, but general statements say they suck.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I bought my M from them as well. Took it in to get the 1200 mile service only to find 25 miles was added to the car when I came back to pick her up. I was pissed and complained to the service manager, he apologized and filled up my car with a full tank of gas. I guess it was better than nothing.

So where do you guys go? I have heard bad things about all the Orange County dealerships. How is the service bad at Irvine? I mean, what can really go wrong with a 1200 mile service.

I went back to STBMW for my 1,200 service. Two reasons, l bought my car from them and most important they are "Mod Friendly".

I understand that Irvine BMW has a reputation for having poor service, but what types of problems do people generally have? If I am just taking my car there for the 1,200 mile service and I tell them not to drive it off the lot how can anything about the service really be bad?

Ha, no I am not set on taking it there, but it is the most convenient. I am just trying to understand how they are bad. The 1,200 mile service is just draining and filling up fluids. Can they really mess that up? If so, I don't mind driving to another dealer but would prefer to stay in Orange County. Also, I have heard bad things about just about every dealer's service department, including Steve Thomas (not saying they are bad, because I do not think they are, but others have said so).

As far as Steve Thomas is concerned, they have done nothing but good to my car so far. I don't recall seeing anything bad regarding service from them but no one is immune from getting bad service. |

Does anyone have any specific examples of why Irvine BMW is bad? I do not doubt that they are but everyone simply saying they are "bad" without telling me does not help me out as much as specific reasons/examples. It is a bit like the Occupy Wall Street protestors.
Like I have said, they would only be doing the 1,200 mile service. Will they strip/over torque bolts or what could the potentially mess up? |

They have bent over backwards to make every little nit-picky thing right for me with no questions asked. I didn't even buy the car there (bought it used private party).
I'm not suggesting that they are a good dealer and that you should go there. I just feel compelled to share my experience in the event that they are aware of the problem and are trying to address it. |
