Thread degeneration

Why are so many threads degenerating into one on one jousting and one-upmanship? Makes me want to tune out. Keep it on topic or shut up.

Ruff potentially paying cash for your next car does not mean didly; there is no reason to be so arrogant about that. I can pay cash too, but won't as I want my $ earning $ not tied up in an "investment" in fun and transportation that will undoubtedly lose money. JMHO.

I do agree with you though that all of the foul language has no place here.

No more information there, so I guess you're right and it's calculated crank power.

I tend to disagree with a majority of your opinions, "facts", likes and dislikes. Enigma has called you out on being way too brand conscious at the expense of real performance and I agreed with him as well. Why should I think your and my perception of EDC would be similar? Frankly I trust what I have read in the mags over you.
Maybe it's a misunderstanding of what I was posting that you have a problem with, maybe the distance of water between us is making you think I am anti-technology which I am not. I want EDC, I have drove similar system (MayneticRide in both the TT and R8) and understand the benefits, I also understand the benefits of DCT as I also owned a GTi Golf with it and will I agree that it is the perfect alternative to an automatic and is simply brilliant on the track the interaction you get isn't what I am looking for, surely you can except someone else opinion on this without attacking their point of view.

The only reason for me moving to the M3 was the very fact that it's a more balanced package than ever before. I picked EDC because is setup was more forgiving on the ride while still providing the body control of the standard suspension, I have said as much in previous threads and posts, the steering issues I can live with, I will find the setting that suits me but my point was not the technology but the numerous options it provided, no car requires the amount that BMW gave the M5 and M6 you said as much yourself and that was my point from the very beginning.

I have never attacked you because your opinion on which car is better for you is different than my opinion of which car is better for me.

And lastly that position, my opinion, is clear. I like technology for what is brings to driving, not for technologies sake. Pigeon hole me as much as you like, it won't stick.
That is your opinion that you don't personally attack, on the other hand that is what some of your comments feel like but if you say that was not your intention then I accept that and will move one.

You might not feel it but I believe our opinions aren't that different, the only real stumbling block is the DCT and even it isn't really a problem it's just something I chose not to have in my car.

Hopefully this has cleared the air and we can all move forward.

On-Topic Question...

Hhhmmm...just wanted to ask if Top Gear was broadcasted on US tv or will it only be viewable live on the net? Looks like I'm in the wrong thread though...

Maybe we are not that far apart. It does not even really matter if we are. There is plenty of space in the world for many different opinions. There are good reasons to like and to dislike technology and someone absolutely does not have to want DCT to be a true enthusiast in my book. I appreciate your reconcilliatory move and will try to take a less aggressive style when replying to your posts in the future .

And it was also reported that the F430 Scuderia was on tonight's programme, and it wasn't, so I wouldn't bank on the M3 featuring on the 23rd. There was no mention of it at the end of tonights programme.

The M3/C63/RS4 shoot-out will definitely be shown on the 23rd.

Can't wait - but we won't see this ep. in the U.S. for a while.

Small detail: the Scuderia version of the 430 has no prefix 'F', it's simply:
430 Scuderia
Contrary buggers from Maranello, eh

Wow, what a prick. I'm sorry if we don't all have the upfront cash to pay for the M3. Let me shrink back into the "debtor" hole I came out of.

Ok, getting back on topic I have an update after watching this week's Top Gear.

Episode 10 will not be aired on Dec. 16 as originally posted. They will skip a week and the last episode will air on Dec. 23, 2 weeks from yesterday.

Also, regarding the content of the last episode, Clarkson himself said at the end of episode 9 that they will be doing car of the year awards in their next and final episode of this season. That source website says absolutely nothing about Car of the Year awards which makes me question it's validity. Obliviously there is time for them to do both Car of the Year and the challenge reviews of the M3 C63 and RS4 but I would consider the Car of the Year to be a major theme in the last episode. Major enough in fact for Clarkson to only mention it on air in anticipation. So the fact that the website doesn't mention it leaves me skeptical.

In a display of German firepower not seen since the Bismarck, we pit the BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG and Audi RS4 against each other in a quest to find the king of the V8 super saloons.

Richard builds himself the best radio-controlled car in the world, while James takes a considered look at the car designed to drag Jaguar kicking and screaming into the 21st century - the XF.

And, with it being our last show of 2007, it wouldn't be complete without the massively influential Top Gear Awards.

Plus, our Time Lord in a reasonably priced car is Dr Who star David Tennant.

Sunday 23 December, 8pm BBC Two

Repeated at midnight on Tuesday 25 December
