Question OEM X-Pipe?

I tried searching but couldn't find a damn explanation.

Does the stock exhaust system already have an x-pipe in place in between the secondary cats and resonators?

Is the oem x-pipe a functional x-pipe like the other aftermarket offerings? If so why are people replacing it? I apologize for not breaking down the question "Barney style" for you.

Thank you for the pic schnell

ThE oem xpipe is certainly functional it just includes resonators and primary cats which are usually removed to increase power

Thank you bud!

Being that the resonators are a straight through design, the secondary cats seem to be the biggest hindrance to exhaust flow after the primaries.

Is there a solid pipe connection between the primary and secondary cats, or is there some type of a bolt or clamp connection? I can't tell from the pic if that black part before the secondary cats is just a brace or not.

So the X pipe section contains secondary cats and resonators. Primary cats remain if you change the X-pipe correct? I wonder if a car will pass inspection with an X-pipe? Anyone know for sure?

The car will pass inspection with the addition of an x-pipe. There are two ways you can fail an inspection and it depends on where you live. Emission and/or visual inspection. Owners who have a visual inspection only usually just gut the cats and leave everything else there so it looks like the cat is still there. If you delete or gut your cats you will fail the emissions sniffer test. In NY they stopped the emissions dyno and just do a diagnostics check via the OBD port to ensure that all the vehicle's emissions equipment (primary cat, O2 sensors etc.) are working properly.
