Euro front license plate. Yes or no?

I removed my plate when I had my front bumper repainted under warranty. Should I stick it back on?

I like no plate personally. But, depending on your state, it can be illegal to either have no plate or a euro one.

Still have no idea why you'd have euro plate on in the first place...

Seems like euro front plate is not very popular here in this forum. Interesting...

Definitely like to keep it clean, but from some angles the front looks like it's missing something. I'm thinking it's either the plate or I need front splitters.

Are you in Germany now?

So, the only reason to keep the plate on is to advertise that you once had the car registered in Germany ( ooooh! ). Sorry, but it's a poser plate.

I sense a lot of jealousy here

The question was asked why I had the plate on in the first place and I answered. The plate is real, hence I said not a poser plate.

If you are not required to have a front plate, I would go without it. If you are required to have one, you may find that LE will use the lack of the official plate is a good excuse to pull you over, ask questions etc. Not worth the hassle. A well known company that sells parts for BMW's sells replica German plates that can even have your state issued number.

All the same if it isn't official it can still get you stopped. Who needs that?

One of the only advantages of living in NC is that you don't have front plates. I've been very lucky so far in that aspect. The last State the car was registered under was AL which was the same. Even in Germany, I used double sided tape to mount the front plate so my bumper has not lost it's virginity yet.

The cool part about coming back from Germany with the car was that I drove around with Deutsche plates for about a month and never got pulled over once. LOL. You get 30 days to register the car.

Here's my buddy's. He had to turn in his long plates for the short just before he shipped it.

Surely if you're not in Germany anymore it would make it redundant to use the plates now... I don't know if I'm missing something here

As long as it is real put it back on, colors go well with your car. Home many people riding around NC with a plate like that ? Not many. For many of us it tells a story. I would bet most people hating on this idea did not have the opportunity to drive their M in Germany. Having said that I have not put mine back on yet but probably will one of these days. Mine with and without

I was asking from a purely cosmetic standpoint but a lot of people are taking it as an opportunity to talk trash. Too many haters around, I've decided to keep it off for now because I already worry when the car is out in public nowadays with the economy the way it is. I don't need to give another reason for some douchbag to do harm to my car. Some of the resonses from this thread made that perfectly clear, thanks!

And to answer your question. I've always felt that the German designers had the long plate in mind when they design the front of the car. Audi comes to mind, the front end looks good with a long plate. I felt something was missing from the front of the car and from looking at my old M3 catalogs, all the pictures had the Munich plates on. Hence the question was asked and some of these douches get all confrontational which is cool too.
