Paint Protector

Guys, I am picking up my new E92 in SoCal and plan on a driving school before a roadtrip home to the east coast. I am comfortable with my local guy on the clear bra, but obviously he cannot do the work in SoCal. I just saw 3M's Paint Protector product which is spayed on and can then be removed at a later date. Anyone have experience with this product?

I can't see it being as good as the film but better than nothing I guess...

There is a thread on this in the detailing section that is very recent. I'd paste the link but don't know how using the app.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I have not decided, but it is meant to be temporary for a couple of track days and a cross country trip, then replaced with a quality clear bra.

blue painters tape. Isn't that what everyone does?

And I honestly wouldn't put a clear-bra on the front. Looks horrible after awhile.

I have seen the 3M paint defender and it actually looked very good. However.....you have to apply it properly. It is definitely temporary (starts to discolor in about a month). Removal is very easy. It just peels off. I think it is just the thing for a road trip, track event, etc.

I purchased Xpel instead with my new M3. Love it and worth every penny.

The blue tape would not look cool on the cross country trip. I appreciate your thought, but you are a few years behind on clear-bras. Unless you are looking at some very cheap stuff, the poor looks/yellowing/etc is long past.

It works as described by these forum members. Even in rain, it stays on (unless rain is hours and hours, then maybe it might peel away).

Stop by Unique Auto Films in socal before making your way back. They do some killer clear bra work. I highly recommend these guys to anybody in the los angeles area looking for some clear bra. Check them out on youtube. They matte clear bra'd a brand new f10 M5.
