What's the comfort access remote range?

Question to fellow M3 owners with CA, can you unlock doors by pulling the handle/lock by touching the ridges with the remote in your pocket/purse/etc., w/o the need to take it out and bring close to the handle, which is for some reason required in my case, and either of the doors.

Replacing batteries didn't seem to improve anything, but I assume if the door antenna was dead, it wouldn't work at all.

Are you tinted OP? Because that can affect range too.

Mine intermittenly doesn't work from time to time when the remote is in my pocket... does not happen often, but occasionally... not sure why... quirky I guess...

This will be something that blow your mind, literal and figurative:

If you hold your remote next to your head, you'll extend its range to unlock the car. But it may blow your mind, be warned.

Lick it first.

Also hold your hands touching your ears with little fingers extended outward to completing the antenna effect. Moar range!!

I always hold it onto my jaw bone. I'm sure the brain damage is minimal at worst :/

I seem to get anywhere between 1 and 3 feet of CA functionality. I keep my key in my right pocket and typically my right hand will open the door up 90% of the time while my left hand works maybe one in three times. FWIW though I think the ridges will only lock the door. Need to wrap my hand fully around the handle to trigger the unlock. YMMV, though.

A small price to pay for a full 5 or 6 extra feet of car-unlocking power.

If the remote battery is weak, the signal will also be affected.

Sometimes when I have my key in my pocket next to my phone, it seems to affect the signal. Also, after the car has been sitting for awhile, the CA door open signal won't work on touch. I have to actually pull the handle. Go ahead, have what fun you will with that, resident third-graders! 😉

CA never worked right for me. Driver's side very weak, i'm talking inches from the car, and then it only works half the time at best. Passenger side much more reliable.
Rolling the windows down from afar is also unreliable, today it was within a foot of the car's front when it finally unlocked.
The car is tinted with the supposedly less shielding film but it didn't work well when I picked it up untinted in Munich in '11 either.
I've had the receiver/antenna unit in the driver doorhandle replaced but that didn't help much if at all. FYI.

Mine stopping working on driver-side every time the last few days, weird. Has working flawlessly until then. The passenger side still works like a champ.
