The E92/E93 M3... a classic
So,
I have owned a lot of BMWs over the years and nearly every one of them was modified to some degree. From my old M6 with Schrick cams and a header-to-exhaust road-beast to my Z4M track day toy with a completely altered everything... Is there anyone out there that plans on leaving your E9x M3 stock? I think this car is going to be a classic car. It is the last of the non-turbo charged ///M cars and I will do my best to resist modding this time 'round. If so, I believe in 10-20 years with a completely stock product, it will be something of a rarity. I'm curious as to how many of you will plan to do the same.

most of my modding is reversible so if needed i could put it all back to stock. it will be a desirable car for a long time no doubt.

My only plans are BMW Performance stuff. I ordered my car with the spoiler delete and will add the CF spoiler shortly. I'm considering the exhaust (knowing it doesn't add much other than weight loss and sound) and that's about it.

true. at some point it becomes cost prohibitive to revert to stock though i guess. in the process of modding ive made some changes to parts i wouldnt want to rebuy to make a stock example.

Mine will be completely left alone. Bone stock if/when I ever part with it.

My last car had a number of mods, and one of the reasons I spent so much more money on the M3 was to get the better performance right out of the factory. The plan was some BMW Performance accessories and that's it. ...but then I started hearing some of the exhausts people in this forum have put on....so we'll see. I agree it'll be a classic, though! |

personalization of things is just natural. i modded my utility trailer. i cant buy anything practically without thinking how i could make it better suited to my taste.

my neighbor an elder man has a 2002 e46 with 8kmiles on it. only takes it out on sundays and just around town, detailed often that car looks for some reason cleaner than my e92, knowing its a well maintained virgin i hope when he sells i can take a stab at it.

A big part of me wishes it will be a classic but I have heard time and time again that there is just way too many E92/E93 out there to be a classic even in 20 years. IDK

That's an interesting question to ask.
Leaving the car stock may be better in the long term. However, in my mind, mods are to enjoy the car now. I think my car is much more enjoyable and performs/sounds better since I modded it. And that's what I care about. I can see the other point though.

I have searched high and low to find an E30 M3 to add to my collection. To find one that was/is stock is nearly impossible and those that are are way out of my price range. I am not bashing those that mod. I have done a lot of it myself. I'm simply asking the question. It seems to me that I may be a bit unique in leaving mine stock which is fine with me.
