Lightbulb ZCP Spacer / Tire question

OK, I have a question, hopefully some members with experience can clue me in

I bought an M3 that had AG M359s on it which I really like. Currently, it has OEM sized PS2 tires on it and runs a 12.5mm turner spacer in the rear (ET25 without spacer, same as OEM ZCP).

My question is, how much tire can I fit without rubbing in the back? I plan to track the car about 6x per year as well as DD the car, so I prefer to run extreme summer tires. I am not worried about rubbing or fitment in the front, it appears I have plenty of clearance.

My options as I see them are

RE11 in stock sizes
AD08R in 255/275 (would really like to try this if I can fit it)

The car is on OEM ZCP suspension and currently experiences zero rubbing under any conditions. Thank you for any feedback.

I have a similar question: I have OEM GTS wheels (Black ZCP) running 255/35/19 in front and 275/35/19 in rear. I want to buy spacers, it seems like 12mm in front and 10 mm in rear is the standard. Can I run this set up with my wheel and tire combo with rubbing?

its commonly accepted that a 10mm spacer is not ideal for BMWs...

I am not sure if a 12mm would be too much in the rear, that's why I started this thread since I am sure people have tried this exact setup

Bumping this.

I am running 245/265 on ZCP wheels with 12.5 mm spacers front and rear. No rubbing currently.

Planning to go to 255/275. I think I will have room in the front (could easily go with a 15 mm in front now), but worry about the rear. I would have no objection to dropping to a 5 mm spacer in the rear if it would be safe, but figured it wouldn't be if 10 mm is too small to be safe.

FYI. Not every tire is the made same. Shoulder shapes matter. Some people manage to go 18/15 so trust me when I say it varies.

With brand new PSS stock sized tires and a 12mm rear spacer I get slight rubbing on large elevation changes or under WOT with weight in the back. This will go away as the tire wears so its not a big deal for me.

I have the comp pack with ZCP wheels and the lower suspension with Michelin PSS 255/275s with a 12mm spacer in the back. It only rubs in the rear on large dips/bumps. It's a very slight rub even at that.

have a feeling you will run in the back..

had oem zcp tire sizes and ran 12.5mm tms spacers all around without issue...

switched to 255/35, 275/35 Hankook V12's a few months ago and kept the spacers on...had rubbing under compression (usually driveways) in the rear...switched to 10mm spacers in the rear and no more rubbing

any vibration issues? seems like 10mm is hit or miss in terms of fitting flush on the hub with its hubcentric lip. also what brand?

great, thanks for the feedback. seems like TMS is the brand to go with for spacers.

I had AG359's. MS 10mm spacer's did not sit flush on that wheel, I didn't try any other brands or sizes. I guess it was a chamfer issue. Also, you may rub up front going to 255's with that et18.

Thanks for the feedback! What's funny is your thread is what made me go with 12.5 mm Turner spacers on all four corners. (It also made me spend several months looking for an Alpine White 2011 E90 M3 with ZCP, but that's another story!)

Did you keep the 12.5 mm up front?

lol..no problem..glad I could feed your mod bug

yes I kept the 12.5mm upfront, looks like I have room to go with 15mm if I wanted, but I'm good with how it is now.

here's my other thread when I installed the new tires, pics have 12.5mm in the rear, had to switch to 10mm as stated above...

Thanks for that! Your M3 was always one of my favorites when I was in the market. I actually bookmarked that thread because I loved the look so much.

Anyway, how can I tell if the 10 mm spacer will work for me or not? Is there a test or a way to verify I will not have issues? Something to look for?

honestly just go out and measure for yourself once you get the entires installed..

there are a couple of youtube vids and diy's on here that show you how to measure the space you have from the top the tire to the fender...it's pretty easy to do..

and thanks for the kind words about my car...appreciate that

Ah, sorry for the confusion. I meant a way to know whether the 10 mm spacer will sit correctly on the hub. Turner strongly recommends against 10 mm spacers as a general matter. Was wondering if it would be obvious when attempting to install whether it will work or not.

mount the spacer, check to see if you can slide a piece of paper between the spacer and hub...if you can, it's not sitting flush...

Kenny you can run a 10mm spacer as long as its compatible with the BMW OEM wheels. You are running the AG 359s so don't know about this. Turner sells 10mm spacers for OEM wheels, not the AG. The 12mm spacer with the OEM 265 tire is about pushing it. Going with a 275/35/19 is about the limit with a 12.5mm spacer out back. I am running 285s out back on my car and a 12.5mm spacer would probably rub with people in the back and a bad bump.

They don't recommend it on aftermarket wheels. Turner does sell 10mm spacers for OEM BMW wheels.

Good info!

I do now have the oem wheels. I was unaware these worked for the oem wheels.

Thanks Dave!
