e9x M3 - a gas guzzler ?
No, clearly.
Even the heavy e93 I have offers excellent results on long, relaxed trips. I got in the last few days 21-23 mpg on the highway, of course cruising style (cruise control active). Shell V-Power 100 octane RON ( 94-95 octane AKI ). This result has been very surprising to me, so I'd like to share with you. Stomping on the pedal or driving binary will look different, for sure. I don't think I could get 23 mpg downhill with a tailwind, but I'm really happy someone is. Even on highway trips, actual mileage doesn't seem near that.
BTW - I'm talking about actual, measured MPG. Not the cluster gauge, which I would affectionately call an optimistometer.

My OBC is consistently 0.8-1.0 mpg optimistic. The consistency is nice for calculating range.
I'm averaging a hair under 20 for the life of the vehicle so far, 60 mile round-trip commute and grocery-getter duty.

To be honest with you all, I can get cruising at 65mph average a 24-26 mpgs. Of course early in the morning. Just relaxed driving, other than that it does dip below 21mpgs.

I am currently at 13.2L/100km (city+highway), that's after a full track day. I was at 12.8L/100km. still alot better than my Audi S4 (B6), which was at 13.4L/km (mostly highway)

Maybe the computer is telling you that, but that is VERY off. I hope you realize that.

I got 21.7mpg this past weekend (90% highway)...averaging between 65-75mph. Not bad... Most of the time I average about 16mpg in town though...

LoL, of course I know that. 13.2L/100km is one day "after" tracking, that's combine with 12.8L/100km. that's 0.4L/100km increase just in one day. It was probably using 40+ Litres / 100km

Engine speed plays an important role if you want to get 20+ mpg. Manuals should use the tallest gear possible, DCT's D-Mode. In my test I drove mainly 80 mph @ 3250 rpm ( DCT, 7th gear ) for more than 500 miles. I have been curious about fuel economy. Of course, I need quite some more gas in daily driving reality .
