This is a little out of order but I dropped off the car the day we got into Amsterdam at the port, I thought hey it could get on its way faster and back to the US! I thought it was wishful thinking, but I talked to David yesterday and my car is supposed to hit the port on Sept 18th, which is crazy because thats less then 4 weeks!! I must have hit some magic shipping lane.
I will say it was a bit difficult to find the place, your nav gets you to basically the area of the port, but after that you need to follow these written directions to find the shipping company, which was not well marked. But once I found it the people there were really nice, I met another couple there dropping off their Euro Delivery SLK350 and there was also a 911 sitting there ready to get shipped. My trip said 2158 but the actual mileage on the car was 2161, I averaged 17.5 MPG, which was better then I thought considering the Ring and I hit a ton of traffic in some of the cities, when I budgeted the trip I averaged on 15 mpg for my costs so I did a bit better.

Last post, I really hope I did this trip semi justice with this post, as I stated at the beginning writing really long posts are not my forte, and I dont really enjoy it either, but the pictures should add some
Our hotel in Amsterdam had an great view of the city, we ate there the last night to have a nice sunset dinner before partying all night in the city and catching our flight in the morning. I would do this trip again in a second, I dont know if I would drive so many miles next time, probably go to one or two places and stay there for a while, but I would not trade this experience for anything. If anyone is on the fence about doing this, just do it, its worth it no matter how much you spend. I totally blew my budget and I really dont care. Also if you dont have a dealer that you are already working with, I can not stress how easy David Aviles made this trip. He was right on point with everything, and I cant believe I did a trip in this many cities picking up and dropping off a car without one hitch. The icing on the cake, due to my business travel we were upgraded to first class on the way home, I couldn't think of a better way to end the trip. Feel free to ask any questions that you have, I can hopefully fill in all the gaps I missed posting about. Thanks for the read!!

One of the best write ups ever! What an amazing trip. I'm very grateful that you let me play a role in your European Delivery experience. The Griswold Vacation reference and the pic of the wood panel wagon was priceless
I'll let you know when your M3 is released from US Customs for the final leg of it's journey home... Danke!

I don't know about the "Out Dated" part but after I've learned about the M4, it does not impress me at all. I dont like the design of it and whats packed under the hood. Which is one of the reason I caved in on the 2013 ///M3. What better way to end the ///M3 with the V8 naturally aspirated engine.
OP, glad you're having a blast with the ED trip. I didn't even know about this until my E92 was about half way into production. Awesome photos! |

I will say every time I see an E46 M3 or an E39 M5 I am still in love so I dont think that the E93 will seem dated to me at all. Hell my E38 still gets tons of looks, its dated but in a classy way.

I did a very similar loop to yours when I was working in Germany for a couple of months. Didn't pick up an M3 or anything, but did rent one a few times.
The one thing I'd recommend next time might be Stuttgart (for Porsche and MB museum) and Austria. Great write up though, makes me really miss Europe. Maybe ED for my next car??
