Dance around it all you want with all the marketing BS (Unladen/curb weight/etc), a similar spec'd f82 is only 19lbs lighter than a similarly spec'd e92.

Considering the f82 has carbon ceramic brakes, it doesn't seem like there was weight savings in any other areas.

Who the heck quotes a vehicle weight without all fluids, etc. Total BS and it should be against the law to use that number in NA without a disclaimer explaining it as such.

I don't see a * at the end of that statement on the ad. like there usually is, along with any fine print.

That is possible, and I can see why it appears that way if they used the EU stuff here. I haven't personally seen it though. With that said, the info that I posted has been available on the forum for a long time, but people insist on ignoring it.

CCB's don't save very much weight at all; I think less than 13 lbs. total. The info that I posted is VERY CLEAR, and falls right in line with what we're seeing on the scales.

I haven't found any data on the F8x CCB, but for F10 M5 BMW claimed 51lbs. If it's even 20, the F82 M4 officially weighs more than the E92 M3 unless you buy an $8k brake upgrade.

13lbs seem a little low considering the upgrade applies to all four corners.

Edit: I did find an article where a BMW rep claims, 13.2lbs - 15.4lbs from a base M3, which still has 4 piston front / 2 piston rear, compared to the e9x brakes, there should be some weight savings in the new calipers also.

It has been weighed and has been discussed all over the F8X forum. It's nowhere near 51 lbs. on the M3/4. The CCB calipers are heavier than the standard F8X caliper; the actual rotor is lighter. It's not a significant weight savings at all.

P.S. Keep believing that every E9X is +/- 3550 lbs. They aren't!

No one believes that every e9x is that weight, which is why we listed what spec e9x we are talking about.

PS: Keep believing that the f8x lost weight

It lost enough. ......especially considering those examples were mostly fully loaded DCT-equipped cars minus CCB's (..and one or two with CCB's). A low optioned 6MT will come in lower. A guy just took delivery of a near stripper, so we're all eager to see how much it weighs.

What I find nuts is Ford's idea of a lightweight is shedding 700+lbs off the Fusion. They are targeting about 2600 lbs with this light weight project. Imagine that....

It's funny how all the publications out there are still throwing around weight numbers. This one made me chuckle:

Quote:
The new M3 and M4 use a 3.0 liter turbocharged engine that produces 425 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. The car weighs under 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs). From 0-100 km/h (0-62), the 2014 BMW M4 runs in 4.1 seconds with DCT while the M3 runs the same distance in 4.3 seconds, with the same transmission.

The lightweight concept Ford Fusion said maybe up to a 25% of the weight can be cut, but its just a concept. The F150 is actually out now and they did save 700lbs. Ford sells .5 mill F150s a year, and now trucks are going to get averaged into the CAFE ratings this was a business necessity. I would be amazed if Ford was actually able to cut 700lbs off of the Fusion, imagine if they did this with the Mustang.

If Ford could do this with the Mustang, I'd be the first one in line outside my local dealership.

Weight figures are out for the new generation of Mustang, though, and sadly no weight was saved. Pretty disappointing considering all the rumors of massive weight savings.

+1
My e92 is a lighter one
And apparently loaded with hidden lightweight touches over the new one ...
Like the engine LOL
Oh and the shorter crankshaft with lower inertia
The carpet fibers are aramid (hollow)
I could go on and on and make up some stuff for fun. Because apparently if you say it over and over it must be true
