Vred interest thread here:

I just stopped by Performance Plus and asked about a bulk buy of tires. I threw out 10 sets with 255/35-19 and 275/35-19 as the desired tires, mainly for the RAC guys, but these will fit the stock 19's too. They told me they could cut the price more if we had 10+ sets ordered.
They have the rears in stock but would need to order more fronts.

I'm not going to collect money or anything, but if I can tell them they have 10 people who will buy, they'll work on the price. He didn't know how much more off they could do since he would have to talk with the manager.

People from the East coast said the shipping was pretty expensive, so I don't know if it'll work for you guys.

Please post if you're serious about getting some tires. I'm hoping for around $20/tire off, but once I get 10 solid people, I'll tell them we're ready when they are and get a solid price. If we get more people, that's no problem.

Good luck aus.

Organizing a successful group buy for tires with 10+ people is going to be a challenge.

Getting the minimum number of people that need the same tires sizes at the same time is the toughest part.

Having done this a few times myself , I know first hand how hard is is to negotiate all these obstacles. (in order to complete a successful group buy purchase)

Let me know if you need any help, tips, or advice. (PM me anytime)

BTW: I thought someone was already doing this for the Vreds?

That group is on the east coast, Lemans. Shipping would kill the cost advantage. You guys in Texas have to pick your poison (sorry).

Cheers.

Yeah, I've been looking for a local Houston dealer without any luck. Vred customer service never responded back to my email asking them either. Guess they want to stay under the radar here in the US?

Shipping from Performance Plus would be $90, which is obviously more than I'd like to pay, but it's not unreasonable considering they're coming from CA. If I can't find a local dealer, you can definitely count me in.

Actually, if you think about it, the shipping costs aren't too bad if you consider that you don't pay sales tax on internet purchases made out of state. For example, the sales tax on those tires purchased on-site at PerformancePlus in CA would be around $70. It's close to cost neutral in most places to order the tires from an internet distributor.

At any rate, too late for me on a group buy. My Vreds were delivered today.

Yes, I remember seeing one of the members here trying to get that group buy off the ground. Not sure if it ever materialized...

But I also remember another m3post member trying to do the same thing on the west coast. In fact, I think a couple of different members were trying to do this over the last 2-3 months?

I remember, but those prices weren't much cheaper than the regular price at PerformancePlus.
I guess I waited a little too long since a few West coast guys bought their tires already.

I might be interested depending on the price. I don't need tires right now, but if the price is right, I'll buy some to stock up.

Performance Plus's prices are very good even without a group buy, especially for you guys in california who get free mounting.
