Im a huge Porsche guy and until the 991 Base Carrera...I would probably say the base Carrera never appealed to me.

That said, a 997.2 Base with PDK will be neck and neck with a DCT M3 in a straight and on track with equal drivers should be able to put up ever slightly better times despite the nearly 65 hp disadvantage.

So, unless its a base 991, I wouldnt take a base 997.X over my comp pack m3 with DCT.

More shop will service a M3 than Porsche
Porsche need some special equipments.

For example flush cooler.
You knows the price different.
I like my Porsche. I am getting a new Porsche.

I'd opt for the Carrera. Owned a 2012 997.2 @75-85mph was getting 30.5 mpg. I sold it to bring the family to Germany but will get another when I get back. The M3 seems to be a good overall car but the handling seems soft and the MPG is rated at 20mpg with a 16 gal tank not a lot of travel before I need to find gas.

The 911 is more expensive that said both are great cars.
