There is nothing to compare to that beast (GTR). It doens't have however, the pedigree of an M.

Yeah its really fast, but you can't even get a manual.

Wow, I didn't know it wasn't offered in manual transmission. That just solidifies that I would never ever look at one again in my lifetime. I won't blink an eye twice if one is on the road, regardless of how fast it goes. They have always looked like shit to me.
I would rather look at a modified black on black ZR1. Done.

You can't seem to stop talking about its looks. You must be a repressed GTR lover.

Hold on. The new Shelby GT500 has 662 HP/631 lbft. It did 197 mph in Arizona. Base is $54k! It's said torque is underrated by about 30 lbft. It's a crazy car. Btw, NO GAS GUZZLER TAX EITHER!! Wow.

I'll never get the whole "if it doesn't have a manual transmission blah blah" thing.

It's a technological marvel that allows you to focus less on shifting and more on driving.

That's kinda why F1 cars have it.

The same old school argument could be made about things like power steering, power brakes, independent suspension etc.

I'm sure someone somewhere 30 years ago, said these are all things that "take away from the driving experience"

To me these things enhance the experience.

That doesn't makes sense because F1 technology is shift-intensive. Smh. I prefer to be mechanically involved with the operation of my vehicle. You don't get as much feedback with paddles. Sorry.

Good luck all you stick guys. Even the mighty GT3 is getting a dual clutch option in the 991.

And being that Porsche came out with the first ever 7-speed manual, I'd say they are far from going completely F1.

Owned a GTR, sold and got the '11 M3 Comp Pkg.
Have 18k and 14mo on the M3, and looking at GTR's again.
M3 is nice (I have owned many M3's), but once you have had the power of the GTR it's hard to settle for less.
Off topic...but it also chaps my hide when 335's with a $700 chip match or slowly walk from my M3. Diff cars for sure, but upsetting at the same time.

I don't see how a few seconds of illegal racing on public roads is enough for someone to be disappointed in a car. My co-worker has a 650WHP '84 Supra. He kills everyone. I don't take this stuff too seriously. It's all about preference and a GT-R would've been considered had it come equipped with a manual tranny, But there will always be a faster car out there and modding can negate any car's stock performance.

Who said "few" and who said "illegal racing"? I suggested neither.
I've driven quite a bit on track.
Point was, it sucks to have your beast bested by a far lesser ride, regardless of marque/make.
Oh, and I owned a 335 previously. Incredible bang for the buck. As for the new '12 335...pass.

well if you have been at any tighter tracks you will know that a lot of lesser cars as in lesser weight will make you feel pretty bad about the m3. try a spec miata or something of the sort.
