You drive an M3, and are bitching about overkill? Why didn't you buy a 328i? And don't give me that crap about track days. With the same things you need on an M3 (sneakers and pads), you can have just as much fun in a 328i on track. Bruce |

why is a benz garbage? The same could be said for the 335, which is in fact, a BMW. I know plenty of people who wouldn't touch a BMW. |

I like it. I like that MB is producing AWD AMGs. It's a very cool option for folks who want a powerful, year-round, driver in places that get crappy weather. Yes I understand that all-season tires suck, and yes I understand that you can put snows on a RWD car and do OK, but one thing I do miss about my Evo X MR, 335xi and GTR is that "all weather" capability.
I don't like the modern MB design aesthetic, unfortunately. Can't deny that they are becoming the king of the "classy muscle car" though, and in the hands of a *really competent* driver, they hang at the track as well (stress on really competent... they're a handful on the track and the #s don't tell you that the way actually driving one does. Thats why bench racing is pointless) |

I just saw one of these LCI E63's. Didn't like the boy-racer design elements such as the whole rear bumper. It's just a shame that MB turned the classy E-Class into a "Nice Hyundai" per my associate. It did sound mean though and just look at power levels tuners reach with the M157 engine. Pretty sick. With AWD, the E63 will be a low 10 second car easily.

Now, go drive a M5, and go back to the M3. Is there a difference? yes. One of the cars is utterly performance based, one is built for meager comfort with little power, and the other is performance blended with luxury. Jesus fuck. Comparing the 328i to the M3 is like comparing your comcast Chevy van to a Corvette. |

And by the way, if you know how to go fast, the M3 is an understeering pig on track. Maybe the best all-around compromise car for the street ever built, but on track, not so much. If you disagree with this, either you don't have track experience in the car or you don't have enough track experience to actually go fast. Bruce PS - The most fun track car I ever ran was my '98 Neon. Was it as fast as the '95 M3 I ran back then? Hardly. But one track day in my Neon (bought originally as a Winter car in New England) and I never ran the M3 again. |

LOL, would you want to know how you can take them down? Take it to the track not on the street. Would you want to know how to beat a Bugatti in the quarter mile drag on the track? Go built a 1300HP GTR at 32 PSI that is capable of handling up to 38 PSI. You know how many C63 performed when pitted against M owner on the track. You will never see one. I was once in the mentality that I can mod and push my M to the max to take on all the cars in the world. This is the mentality that rakes in the money for MBUSA. Ever wonder why MBUSA always dance around the idea on releasing new AMG C, E, or the CLK just slightly more powerful than the M? So those who does not appreciate the true concepts behind the M will either go out and buy a AMG in their respective class or they justify an ass whooping by bitching on the forum.
Go out and enjoy all the technology the M has to offer. Who gives a sht if a C63 can smoke you on a straight a way. Love your M the way it should be driven.. Hammer, please don't hurt em. Last edited by FASTMTREE; 06-05-2013 at 08:53 AM.. |

I'm not much of a Mercedes fan, but I love AWD and BMW has nothing that even compares to the new AMG, that thing is amazing to say the least. Thank god BMW is making a twin turbo M3, I've always wondered why they don't make a AWD M3.

All of the new vehicles coming out are getting better and faster. When a new Corvette, Porsche, Audi, BMW or Mercedes are produced they all get faster and better from a numbers perspective. Porsche will not make a GT3 that will perform to a lesser extent than the previous generation. Sure, industry and government regulations will shape and mold how the vehicles go about producing their performance, but change will happen. AMG going AWD, vehicles with 500 to 600 hp stock, etc. are just examples of where things are headed, otherwise it is difficult to compete or win. Every manufacturer just has to step up to the plate in whatever way they think they can succeed at. None of this takes away from the bond that owners have with their current cars and why they will like them more than other brands or future products, but it is what it is.
