Contis are good tires and didn't feel a big difference between Contis and PS2s ... I do like PS2s better but Contis are good tires too ... especially CCS3 ... I got PS2s on my 18's ... It feels a bit smoother ... |

Some news about the alignment.
I finally went to dealership for alignment. This particular dealership charges 260 for alignment in BMW Spec. But agreed to do alignment for 140 to match with competitor dealership in town. I gave them Dinan alignment spec sheet and thought it's not going to be anything different in terms of price of alignment. WRONG. They say, Dinan spec is very different from OEM spec so it's going to cost me about 500+ dollars but they can do it at 400. Why is that? I ended up going with BMW spec since I couldn't justify 400 for alignment. Does anyone here had same issue? And is that OK to have BMW Spec with Dinan suspension setup? What could be the benefit of having Dinan spec? Help me out please (for future alignment reference).

I went with OEM spec for my alignment. No problems. These dealers are crazy with the crap they come up with. I mean damn, they are just moving camber, etc. fractions of an inch more or less.

I'd suggest going per DINAN specs I see no reason why you couldn't find an independent shop in San Diego to do the job as well (or better) than the BMW shop you're going to.
$300 for a first-time, 4 wheel, custom alignment should be about what you'll spend. I'd suggest going over to the regional section on bimmerforums (simply because you'll have more bmw owners to answer) to ask for some shop recommendations. |

Since my car is in the shop, I just went ahead to do it at BMW spec but I know for sure, my next alignment spec will be done at Dinan spec from different shop.

Which Dinan spec did you go with? I was given 3 different Dinan specs for different stages/applications. The least aggresive spec (stage 1 road) is very close to BMW's.

Basically tell the dealer you want 1) max negative camber WITHIN BMW SPEC 2) as much of a neutral toe (e.g. 0 deg) as possible WITHIN BMW SPEC and you will get the Dinan stage 1 street spec. |

you need to shave your front guide supports by 3 mm. It's in very first page.

Those mods are designed for the Dinan friont springs. The different bumpstops are probably fine for the Eibachs (give more travel before hitting the stop), but shaving the guide support will drop you front more.

I think the eibach drop is fine so i really dont need it any lower...esp. since i have a front lip...with that said will i encounter a problem keeping the guide support intact and not shaving it? I take it then i will need 4 bumpstops...i.e. one 4 each spring? Thanks |
