Just got my new M3

Is it normal to:

-Wonder around town aimlessly just to drive the car.
-Exceed 5000 rpms few times before the break in period.
-Sit in the car for hourse in the garage switching all the settings while your wife is wondering where the hell are you.
-Check the car every 5 seconds for any scratch.
-freak out when someone parks next to you.
-go around the parking lot 5 times looking for a nice car to park next to to avoid dents.
-get addicted to the scent of the fresh leather.
-your wife telling you: "you have to find a male friend to talk to about the car because I can't take it any more"
-turn the radio down or totally off so you can listen to the engine.

I'm in love with this thing.. And I'm going crazy.. Obviously..

Hell yes! I think the wife comments are funny. She must think you're insane. As for parking in lots for quick parking only, I try to find two nice cars to park beside or just arrived with a family or something. I'm shooting for the likelihood I'm leaving way before they do. Somehow, when you park on the farside of a parking lot, some idiot always seems to want to park beside you. I have to say, it's USUALLY a POS / crap machine. Not sure why, it's like the nature of parking lot physics or something.

Yeah, today I parked at the far end and I came back and some disaster had parked next to me. And the thought of parking the car at the far end of the parking lot and coming back and the wheels are stolen is haunting.

perfectly normal!! I find myself doing these same things every day. just this morning I spent three-four hours detailing the car, removing every speck of dust and dirt from the carpets.. and yes I even use a cotton swab to clean in between the idrive controller .. I have also been found hugging the dash by my wife.. especially when we've been away on a trip for a week or so..

Yup, normal. To add, I usually poke my head in the garage before crashing for one last look.

I have a smoke every so often in the garage, but it's really an excuse to stare at the car and its lines. I try to stop myself from driving aimlessly and make up reasons I need "groceries" or "essential items" for the house. Yes, I justify errands in my mind so I can drive this amazing machine...hahahaa.

Sounds identical to my situation. I got mine on the 18th and have been looking for excuses to keep my foot on the pedal ever since. So in love with the down-shift rev-matching growl!

Yes, it sounds awesome. Did it like 5 times today. Gonna do it again now after picking my wife up. She will probably go crazy.

My wife said "is it that loud outside the car?". In fact the manual says not to use that type of driving in the neighborhood.

Perfectly normal behaviour. I have done this for the last five years, and my wife has put up with it for the past fives years. I would rather drive the car than park it, and keep thinking about the cars park next to it and how they get in and out of the car. My grey hair ratio has gone up since I bought the car ... I don't know what I can do ... I think it's pure love

By-the-way, thank you for posting and breaking the ice.

Perfectly normal, like you, I have starred, made excuses to take her out for a spin, turned the radio completely off and rolled down the window to hear her purr. She's definitely a beauty and a beast.
