Saw another roadside SMOG test by CHP!!

This one was on Westminster and Seal Beach Blvd. They had a car on the dyno. This is getting to be harassment by the CHP.

Someone mentioned it's actually optional, so if you say you have to pick up the kids or something, they can't hold you. Not sure how true that is, but I'd try it.

well if you have nothing to hide, it wouldn't matter. it would just waste some time, that's all. i wouldn't mind if they catch some of the cars that just stink on the roads around here.

yeah, that has got to be BS. I'd have to look into it but I cant imagine that this is okay. The cops in OC seriously seem way too bored.

They've been really bad on Warner/Main in Santa Ana - street is coned off at least 2x month for random testing.

Clean air *IS* a good thing. Hopefully they're pulling aside clunkers that are belching blue smoke rather than those of us who actually maintain our cars.

I don't have a problem if they could target cars that are at higher risk for creating smog and not just a random check.
Also, it would be nice if they could do it somewhere where there's a parking lane instead of closing off 1 out or 2 lanes in the middle of morning rush hour.
