Need advice: Replace wheel/plasidip/refurbish???

I had flat a couple of weeks ago and I ended up hitting the curb going about 10 mph when I was slowing down which caused this.

Tire/Wheel warranty cover the flat tire but they won't replace my wheel as it's holding air. They don't replace cosmetic damaged wheels. Gee, I wonder why???

So, I'm trying to figure out what to do next.
  1. New Wheel: $550 plus M&B.
  2. Used Wheel: Been looking on here, CL, & EB, 2 members on this forum sold theirs a week before I curbed it. Bad timing...
  3. Refurbish: $200 from Local specialized shop. But I've heard it doesn't always match it exactly as OEM.
  4. Plastidip: Co-worker did this to his Civic wheels and been trying to convince me to do the same. I've searched it on this forum and many guys seem to like the way it turned out.
  5. Do nothing thinking that with my bad luck, I'm going to "bend/crack" my wheel so the warranty will cover it eventually.

Under normal circumstances, I would simply buy a new one and get it over with. But, I just used up my M3 Mod Budget/Slush Fund to buy a BMW Performance Steering Wheel and other goodies. I guess I can sell the steering wheel if I had to and pay for a new

My long term plan was to Powder Coat them once I needed new tires. I was going to do Gunmetal as I didn't want matte/gloss Black.

Looking for input from the peeps here on what they would do if it was their car.

Wow, that's a TON of damage. replace it

Would not recommend refinishing, takes too long and your car goes down for a couple days while the wheel's off at repair

ok solution if you have a 2nd vehicle and a lot of time on your hands to drive to either walnut creek for rite-way wheels or san jose for wheel techniques (would not recommend wheel techniques)

consider yourself lucky the wheel is ONLY $550 including M&B

Plastidip won't help you with that much damage.

Thanks for the quick response.

I do have access to 2nd car. I spoke with guys at WT in San Jose, what's your experience with them? have not tried rite-away in WC.

did you ever sell your OEM Exhaust?

That's what I was thinking as well since the damage is so extensive. My co-worker has a can left and said I could try it. At worst, I can simply peel it off if it didn't work. I am waiting for him to give me the can.

Plasti-dip will just make it look worse.

I recommend an entire new wheel, unless you luck out finding someone on the boards just selling one front ZCP.

my experience: they take SIGNIFICANTLY longer than they say they will (say 3 days, take 3 weeks). ymmv. the final work is good

no, still on the car
