I'm looking to replace the stock Pirelli PZeros on my car that are already down to about 4/32" in the rear. I'd like a high quality summer tire that has good rain performance in addition to dry grip. My car is my daily driver, but this tire would also be used on occasion for trackdays when the weather doesn't permit Nitto R-compounds. Any thoughts on Michelin Pilot Super Sport vs. Yokohama Advan AD08s? Thanks...

Sounds like this would be primarily used for daily driving with a very occassional trackday. I would go with the PSS, great in wet weather, very quiet ride, good grip, comfortable ride. The AD08 will perform better on the track but since you will be DD more often, the PSS seems to be the better fit.

drburton pretty much summed it up. PSS better ride, better in wet. AD08 better on track and in dry. Both tires are excellent.

I was trying to make a similar decision and I had PSS on the car at the time. They were amazing for street driving and very good at the track. But, even though I only get out 3 or 4 times a year, I wanted something "more" at the track. I really considered AD-08s as a dual purpose tire but did not want to sacrifice too much on comfort and was worried about the wet weather performance. I went with the Potenza RE-11 on the basis that they are known to have better wet grip and better comfort than the AD-08 but are very similar for dry performance. I am exceptionally happy with them in all respects. Better dry performance than the PSS but 90% of the comfort. Just another option for you.

Thanks for the replies so far, everyone. Potenza RE-11s are a good thought--I'll put them on the list, too. So basically my priorities are good grip in dry and wet, with some emphasis on wet performance as these will be daily drivers and track day rain tires. (I use Nitto NT01s for good weather track days.)

I use AD08's and daily drive my car and put about 20 track days on the ado8's and love them as a dry performance tire. That being said they aren't the most comfortable tire (not bad and I don't care anyway) and are not great in the wet or cold. Temps drop below 50 or it's raining and performance drops off quite a bit. I love my AD08's but if part if the criteria is wet weather performance, then this might not be the ideal tire. My .02

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Given that daily driving/commuting and track duty in wet weather will be important for this set of tires, I went with the Pilot Super Sports. Looking forward to trying them out.
