Need balance? Apex Wheels and Continental R-Compound Tires

I just bought a new set of the 18" Apex wheels and picked up some lightly used Continental R-Compound Tires for the track. Do you guys recommend have the tire shop balance these when i get the tires mounted?

I'm new to this so sorry if thats stupid question! Just wondering cus I imagine these tires will change shape so quick and pick up extra hot rubber at the track that I wasn't sure if it was just a waste to balance them.

Rectifying my earlier post, I actually asked, because I say yes, but I actually got some yes and some no answers. Someone told me they actually noticed no difference at +100mph, someone else said they did. I'd do it since it's only 20 bucks for peace of mind. Especially considering JPJP's Conti take-offs have more plastic in them and are harder slicks than usual (more life to 'em though). I used them for 2 track days, and they didn't go silly putty or decepticon on me.

Same setup. I found that the wheels/tires can be bumpy as if out of balance while warming up, but once warm are perfect. Now I picked up the wheels and tires as a set from a friend who changed to an E36 SpecM3 for track, and the wheels were balanced -- at least there are weights placed. Why bumpy on first lap? Maybe because they were parked hot and cooled down over 1-2 hours? I don't know, but if you do go for a balance, you might want to consider temp. Any theories out there?

I noticed recently at Lime Rock that the Dyson Racing Mazda LMP1 car had wheel weights, meaning balanced wheels/tires. It's inexpensive and if the pros find it necessary, then why not...

We usually recommend having the weights removed and a balance just to get the best handling possible.
