M3 Lci Front Bumper.. Why No Vendors Have Done This?
Hi guys,
looking at the different options out there to improve my angel eyes, one of my first initial reactions was thinking that somebody (vendors i mean) would have designed a replica front bumper that has its design adapted to fit the new lci front headlights that appear on the regular 3 series from 2010 onwards... But searching in the forum i have found none of this.. My question is, why not? These people make 1m front bumper replicas, m3 front bumper replicas, etc, so designing an m3 front bumper that only changes the bit where the bumper meet the headlights have to be super easy for them right? So why nobody has done it? Not enough M3's sold to gauge enough interest? I bet quite a lot of people here would buy them, dont you think? Edit: A quick photoshop shows it wouldn't look out of place.. (left headlight) Last edited by odariel; 03-12-2015 at 05:49 PM.. |

No one has done this because the M3 never had the lights change to LCI like the regular 3 series.
If you want this type of bumper you would have to change way too many things. Starting with the headlights of a regular 3 series and even the hood among other things. Replica parts are made to fit a car without modification. No one will ever make a replica bumper that also needs thousands of dollars in other parts to make it fit. That defeats the purpose of a replica saving the buyer money. Unless you have a 3 series and are asking why a M3 replica was never made for that car, I don't have an answer for you. |

Regarding the costs, i agree, it is not a cheap mod... But hey, we don't have a cheap car either. If you have enough to buy a 80k plus car, i am sure you can splash another couple of grand if you want this look. I mean, i see people here sending their lights to oss and 180 to update the look of their headlights, and that is definetely not cheap. I havent go that way because i am not fully convinced of how those rings look (when off they have a yellowish tint, you can see the actual leds, and oss for example, makes it mandatory to install a top eyebrow to hide the cabling that i personally find ugly). Overall they dont look oem enough for me. My point is that for the cost of that job, you could buy a set of LCI headlights.. and you would still have your original set that you could sell to minimize the expenses. Also there are places like ebay, where you could get a second hand set of lci headlights almost half price... (if you are a stingy bastard, there are still ways to do it on the cheap.. ) What i am trying to say is that if people here put 7k big brake kits just for show, money is no problem. If they want it they will pay for it. I for one, would gladly do it if there was such a bumper available. I mean right now! I usted to have a 2011 335i and the front looked so much newer with those lights on.. Regards Last edited by odariel; 03-14-2015 at 12:36 AM.. |

because many people spend $150 on aftermarket eyes and call it good. or, people can get their oem light (or just the eyes) modded by a company like oss with more cost efficiency.

If you want to call the OEMs dated, the units you posted are dated, too, compared to the DTM-style lights now. Personally, a headlight mod (LED rings, blacked out housing) look much better than the mod you're mentioning, and is much cheaper ($650ish vs new bumper + hood + lights) as well.

Had lci 335i coupe but I prefer the pre lci headlamps more. It's cleaner and not as busy as lci.

^^ Concurred.
It's personal preference. I don't really care for the LCI headlights.

There's no demand. No vendor would invest the molding, tooling and manufacturing for this mod. Not to mention it's an old platform and the E92 M3 is on the downward cycle for modding.
