how about a DIY? I really don't feel like shipping these things back over the border and my cost and paying duties on the way back to me AGAIN.
how hard could it be to solder a wire extension and in-line fuse into place? specs please... |

all aftermarket angel eyes product will have this problem.
Summary: car voltage is 12 volts LED voltage requires much less (over 75% less) Therefore, companies have to deal with the voltage issue. they solve this by using a "band aide" approach by installing a bunch of resistors to make the 12 voltage go all the way down to 1-5 volts. THis method is the most efficient because it doesn't save power (your angel eyes is still drawing 12 volts) and it generates a ton of heat (due to all the required resistors). stay away from aftermarket angel eyes. |

Extending for Australian buyers too!!
Quote:
I sent NAM a massage a few days ago, they said I must pay for the shipping to them and they will pay for the shipping back to me... But since my best friend is an electronic technician, I could get him to do this for me... if the material is sent to me, therefore saving me time, shipping and duty cost!! I had to wait 4 weeks when I first put in an order, thats cause 3 weeks of no stock, and then the final week just for delivery!!! I am more then happy with that Marc... can you please specify that this can also be extended to us overseas buyers too This way, it would probably be cost-affective and no duties to worry about, as well as much less time for me if I got the material to do this! I am happy to get this done... and therefore don't have to live without my Lux H8 for approx 3 weeks (if I have to send my set back to NAM, it will probably take 1 week till its received, another week for it to be rectified and then a week for me to get it back)... this way, I can wait a week to get the material and just a couple of minutes to rectify it on my car! I just received my Lux H8 from the US and I have to send it back for the recall procedure. As I am from Switzerland, are you able to communicate all the details (scheme, procedure or else) to do the modification by myself ? If I can spare me the shipping costs...... Other, is it possible to change the power supply with another which is not faulty ? Do you have some specs on power supply is used and what is the kind that will not cause overheating ? Thanks in advance for your reply. |

For anyone that wants - i can send you the materials and instructions if you want to do this yourself - it will save time for shipping them.
in short, you just need to cut the wires, strip them, and solder the new wires into place. I will include heatshrink to protect the wires. If you want to do this yourself - Please e-mail me your name and address, and i can send the parts & instructions to you. |

Mark,
Will you be offering the old 6,000K H8s again? Those weren't affected by the recall, and I preferred their level of brightness and color to the new 6,500K H8s that are part of this recall.

This recall is basically a wire length extension to prevent the fuse box from being prone to excess heat. I decided to send mine back only because I have a '10 model. These aren't even supposed to work for my year. GL everyone.
