Hairline Cracks on CCW C14...
I was cleaning my wheels yesterday and found cracks on two of my forged CCW's. I bought them new April 2010. Driven at most 15k miles. Is this normal?

No, not normal. I'd contact them. At least one of those is more than just a hairline.
FWIW, this is why I don't like black wheels on competition cars, it's a bastard to find anything unless you're doing something like cleaning your wheels. The shiny and silver wheels are easier because brake dust collects in the cracks and shows you some contrast, I've found more than one crack just walking past a car with lighter wheels on it. And of course they never start in the easy-to-find places, they always seem to crop up on the inside of the spokes first like yours so anything you can do to help yourself is a benefit.

Its not always whats on the surface that causes failuers. Surface cracks and internal fracturing both are contributors to failures. I def would take them off until they can be x-rayed.

CCW is a great company. I'd let them chime in and see what they say.

Sorry to see that Richard. CCW better step up.
I've seen wheels literally come off the barrel at that location. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Ive never been a fan of CCW ever since my cousin ordered a set and they sent spacers with them. how are they custom wheels if they come with spacers?
everyone has their own outlook on companies and by no means am i saying they are a bad company, I'm just adding my experience with them. Good luck with them and hopefully they help you out. |

Glad to hear they took care of you right away. Did they give any reason or cause for why they think this happened?

Will be very interested in what the corrective action is beyond sending out a new set. I've seen these stand up to a lot worse punishment than yours, granted the ones I see at the racetrack are usually 3pc

I check my tires for wear before and after track sessions, but not my wheels. That probably needs to change now. Thanks for the heads-up.

Just my little input, but CCW has been the only US made wheel company that I have had a pleasent experience with.... Plus they meet their deadlines on wheel shipments. If they made any of their 3 piece wheels in 19's, I would buy them. I've had a full convo with them about this and their reasons to not go larger than 18 makes sense.
